1991 Mustang GT automatic shifter problems

Could someone tell me if there is an adjustment or something for the shifter when I put it into reverse it will either take a minute to shift into to gear or won't go at all after I have drove it a little it usually works fine

Sounds like the transmission seals are rock hard when cold; which causes slipping and soften up when hot; which makes the trans shift normal = overhaul needed. Your transmission needs a major overhaul to correct this problem because the seals need replaced from being overheated (slipping of worn clutches). Good Luck
