Fox 1993 2.3 Aftermarket Relay Control Module (CCRM) contains more relays than original.

Having an issue where the fuel pump (recently replaced) will randomly cutout that I believe is being caused by the CCRM. I can usually tap the module a few times and it will then trigger the fuel pump. Opened it up to inspect and found a blown/leaking capacitor, replaced it and it worked for a short time. Bought a 4-Season module (p/n 37512) just in case the problem continued, which it did. Everywhere I have read about the new module says it is a direct replacement but after opening it up I found it to have a few more relays than my original part. The one that originally came out of my car only contains 3 relays, and everything I can find about the oem modules says they contain at least 4. This a/m module appears to have 5. Does anyone have any input or info on whether or not I should put this new part in my car? Picture of the difference in OEM (top) and aftermarket part.

If you have a pinout for [either] relay, check the pins and ensure you get the same responses from the pins that apply to you (look your connector).

Otherwise, I'd keep looking for a replacement for your original part number even if you end up scouring junk yards.


Something else worthy of notes as I was searching for a pinout:

On your car, it's called an "IRCM" from what I've seen and this is the pinout for it:

Verify that they match. If the connector and pinout on your new module, match your old one on the used pins (only, unused don't count), they you should be golden.

Thanks for the quick reply and also for the pinout. You are correct, all data and others do call it an ircm. Ive been digging for info in so many places and seeing the term CCRM thrown around and assumed it was kinda interchangeable. The connector on the new module is the same as the original I just can't find a pinout for it anywhere.

These modules are known to burn up relays because of the current the cooling fan draws. I have taken many apart over the years and found components on the board and relays burnt.

After I replaced my last one, I mounted aftermarket high current relays with screw connection terminals on my inner fender to power the fan. The new module pulls in the coil on the external relays which power the fan. Power to the relay contacts is supplied by a wire on a fuse connected direct to the battery. Hopefully the module will last forever.

I initially used 40 amp external relays which you can buy from local auto stores. The push in tabs overheated despite having heavy gauge wire connected to them.

The supplier of the new module may have decided to add an extra relay in parallel to the other relay to handle the high current. Or may have made the module universal to handle a single and two speed (94-95 Mustang) cooling fan.

The attached pin out is for the two speed cooling fan. The one Noobz347 sent above has the single speed fan pin out.
