I HAVE A 97 COBRA THAT HAS A TICK COMING FROM THE BACK OF HEAD ON DRIVER SIDE. IT HAS ONLY 33,000 MILES ON IT YOU CAN HEAR IT IN CATALITIC ALSO. HAS ANY ONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ANY INFO WILL HELP MY NARROW THE PROBLEMS DOWN.

Had a similar issue myself, turned out to be a busted valve guide. What symptoms do you have? Any smoking?

ITS NOT SMOKING AT ALL IT RUNS GOOD BUT HAS A TICK THAT INCREASES WITH THROTTLE.

Could be exhaust leak, maybe fuel injector.

Not sure on the older cobras but my driver side head had to be changed due to the TSB on the drivers side head ticking. It was replaced under warranty.

In your case it's probably the same worn valve guide.

I LIVE IN VERO BEACH FLORIDA DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A GOOD PLACE TO HAVE MY 97 COBRA CHECK TO SEE IF IS THE VALVE GUIDE. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

Mine ticks as well but its on the passanger side and its a 99 cobra motor. I think its a exhaust leak. If its a value owell let the motor blow and i'll get a stroker kit.

is your Caps Lock key broken too?

Anyways, Does the sound get louder with throttle or faster? both?

I've heard a lot of guys on the Mach forums have this problems and it is attributed to overtorqued cam ladders, that can be fixed at your dealership.

I don't know about the internet but go find you a Haynes manual at an autostore. Worth the 15 bucks and then some.
