im thinkin about getting a 99 cobra, right now i've got a modded 94 cobra. do you think a 99 will be any faster than my current car? What are some pro's and cons of the 4.6 versus the 5.0? thanks!

If you have H/C/I on your current Cobra then a stock 99 Cobra won't be faster. They will go fast with the right parts though. I've been high 7's in the 1/8th with a stock motor, and I've got an S-trim on the way.

Biggest difference will be going from a solid to the IRS in the rear. The 5.0 has torque down low...the 4.6 has to rev high. Doesn't wake up until over 4,000RPM's....but you can go to 6800RPM's now.

If you like the new body style, don't mind the IRS (better ride, but not as good for track duty) then go with a 99+.

Get the '99 regardless. With a few tasteful mods you'll have a beast.

go with the 99

well here is my opinion"
the 98 cobra was running about the same 1/4 times as the 99 gt's.
a 95 cobra with 125 shot would would keep up to mine without nitrous,I think you would be doing yourself a favor by getting the 99, although the 99 did come with a few problems you might be able to get away with an 01 for the right price if you look around (summer and spring is the worst time to buy a sports car but a perfect time to sell yours).

The prices on 99's are dropping. If you can get a good deal on one, you won't be dissapointed. Down low they have no torque but once the rpms are up they move.

99 cobra.

gears, and boltons, and you'll be about the same as your current car.

I think it comes down to which body style you like better. 99's got a bad rap because of the 'Fix', but they are great cars and have no more problems than other Cobras.
