My car just hit the 36k mark, however they have the original Goodyear's and they're in terrible shape, all of the tread is there they just have really bad dry rot.

i know that tires have a mileage warranty, but what about a time warranty? I mean they are 7 years old but these tires are junk.

Ideas?

Are you actualy complaining, 7 years on a set of tires is
a new record for tire wear. I usually get new tires about
every 25 k at the most, theres nuthin better than some
fresh meat!

Yes i am, if the warranty is 40k, they should last to 40k.

I am sick of companies not living up to warranties and when it comes to show time they weasel out.

The problem is i don't have original documentation, just general knowledge of tire warranties in general.

So it could have a 30k warranty, that's why i ask

I thought the warranty was 3 years/36k miles

Why don't you stop griping and just go buy some more tires?.. simple as that..

my man, it isn't griping. If there is a warranty they should be fixed on their dollar, if there is not...it is on my dollar.

it's pretty black and white.

there are no mileage warrenty on these tires. none implied whatsoever. factory tires do not come with mileage warretnies, especially ones that are ZR rated. what you are seeing is normal especially with a car not driven much. there are also no time warrenties on tires. most manufacturers now suggest replaceing tires after 5 years regardless of tire tread depth.

36K miles is pretty decent for factory goodyears.

Mine just rolled 33K and are down to the wear indicators.

Factory tires are junk anyway.

Mine is a 2000 and I replaced mine in 2002. They were nearly bald, and had severe checking. The dealer told me go buy new tires, Goodyear has a prorated warranty.

I only had about 12000 KM on mine too.

Some OE tires do have a warranty. Example: My mom's '03 Saturn VUE. Her stock Bridgestone Dueler 684IIs had a 60,000km warranty. They lasted 55,000km and they were pretty crappy.

true some tires used for OE applications have a warrenty, however getting a tire shop to honor that warrenty is another story. i know honda has been getting a lot of heat for using V rated Michelin Energy MXV4s on their accords and they usually wear out in 18k miles.

Like was said geting someone to honor the waranty is going to be tough. When ive bought tires in the past ive read through the warranty documentation you have to have a bunch of information proving that the tires were well taken care off and not abused. You had to have documentation that they were rotated regularly, the vehicle has proper alignment, and even then its done at their discretion. I also looked up the tires on tirerack and there is no treadlife warranty on the goodyears that came stock on the 99 gt (whether they came from the factory or you bought them yourself)

omg i can't believe your complaining about 7 year old tires that lasted 36,000 miles. Tires are a wear and tare item and not covered under a factory warranty. Now some tire manufacturers will include a 1 year 12,000 mile warrant with new car purchases. I'm happy if i get 25,000 out of a set so if i hit 35,000 i'd write the company and thank them.
