1st Impressions of JLT Intake & Brenspeed 93 Tune!

*These are the first mods to my GT
Looks: This intake looks great under the hood! When I first opened the box I couldn't believe how big the air filter was (about a foot long) Since my car is black, I just got the intake in black but being able to get it color matched to your car is a really cool option Brenspeed offers.

Performance: I was blown away at how much more powerful my car feels now. You just give it a little gas and shes ready to jump. When driving through my neighborhood, a couple times I was in 2nd gear and thought I was in 1st gear because of how powerful it felt in the lower RPMs. The throttle response is also greatly improved. It will put a smile on your face!

Sound: There is definitly an increase in sound coming from the air filter, but not enough to be annoying. When you step on the gas, you hear the intake just enhaling air like nothing I've heard before. Then, some people may disagree but I think the exhaust is slightly deeper as well. Its more noticable if you put car and nuetral and have someone else stomp on the gas while your standing behind it. Inside the car the its not as noticable.

Gas Mileage: It seems to be a little better but I been really getting on it this week so after I take a trip tonight I'll be able to tell for sure.

Next mods will either be flowmaster exhaust, steeda under drive pullies, or steeda lower control arms....

This intake/tuner combo is the best bang for the buck mod you can do to this GT. I recommend it to to everyone here!

I just completed mine too, although I went with the JLTII/DTP Predator tune route.

I loaded the 93 tune into it and slapped the painfully easy-to-install intake on earlier and took her out for a spin.

I found it hard to tell how much of a difference there was but a difference there is. The car feels a little quicker alright, though only a dyno/trip down the strip will tell for sure.

I will be interested to see yur dyno results. My JLTII/DTP Predator tune (for wimpy 91 octane California gas) resulted in 300 rwhp and 312 twtq on a dyno jet. I have always wanted to see what another DTP tuned car would pull for a comparison.

Brenspeed says 30hp gains are common. I'd like to dyno but I dont know a place the Louisville, KY area.

Osiris, it should be a significant increase in thottle respose and overall power.

I would also like to eventually add a BBK throttle body to provide additional intake airflow. Steeda UD Pullies, Steeda billet tower strut bar, JLT Intake, and BBK throttle body would look real nice under the hood!

I won't go so far to say the increase is significant according to the extremely-accurate butt dyno ( lol ), but a recent trip to the drag strip yielded me about a 3 tenths of a second decrease in overall ET and about a mile and a half quicker.

Last run of the night we improved about another 6 hundreths heading into a pretty stiff wind so the overall increase, in theory, could have been almost a half a second better than stock.

Still, though the car feels a little healthier, I don't think it made a huge difference, but that's probably just me expecting too much.

Overall I'm pleased with the system indeed.

I've been saying for awhile now that Brenspeed is awesome! No I don't work for them, no I don't get special discounts; I just get excellent, friendly customer service and everyone else who is a customer of theirs does too. And for tuning, it will be hard for anyone to specialize in the S197 platform the way that Brenspeed does.

This is a little off topic, but as far as mods go, how far can you go before the warranty is void? i know most say bolt ons are fine, but what about gears, pullies, cmvc delete plate, etc. I am still kinda new to this so please bear with me. Does it make a difference to the warranty if the dealership installs the stuff for you?

This has been discussed 1,000 times. Basically the dealership cannot void your warranty unless they can prove the aftermarket part was the reason for something breaking. So simple bolt ons can void your warranty if it causes something on your car to break....

I like the sound of that tune and intake.i was thinking about an sct.hopefully this winter i can work on my 06,maybe exhaust,intake,headers,you know just boltons while its in for the winter.i like hearin about new manufacturers though.it always gives me good ideas.good luck

I am also a Brenspeed customer and his tunes and customer service is great. Not too mention his pricing is spot on.

No, I put it on. I had the Pypes H and loved it, but the smell was killing me (I always drive with the window down). The X is ok, sounds better than stock.
