1st time at track did awful need help/advice

You've got enough power for 12s! Just get the traction and weight under control. Consider mods like the aforementioned drag radials (i like my BFGs a lot), Upper and Lower control arms, drag struts and shocks, drag springs, remove the sway bar, all kinds of weight stuff (there's a thread going on in the 94-95 specific section that lists a TON of stuff that i think is the same on our cars as well). 275rwhp should be plenty for 12s, just have to prep it to make use of the power. I'm going the opposite way with my car, suspension first, so hopefully when i have that kind of power i'll be in the 12s first time out.

When I was running street tires and stock suspension, I used to almost bog it out o' the hole at 1700 rpm and then roll into the throttle. Prob'ly would've been quicker if I slipped the clutch but it made for pretty consistent launches when bracket racing. These were 225/60/15 BFG Comp TA's but I don't recall the pressure. I used to drive around the waterbox, then do a short dry hop just to make sure I missed the water. I also wasn't powershifting...again, it might have been quicker but I was after consistency. I'm also not usually able to string too many powershifts together without missing one but we won't dwell on that!! :D Also, this was a VERY mild combo...pretty much stock.

Thanks for the input. I am going to try to get some stickys before i get back to the track. Are the MAC upper and lower control arms good. I don't know if i want to spend the money on the 24's considering i am hoping to put a supercharger on it next year. Is there anything i could do now while keeping the 30's. Also If i get the supercharger i am going with the Vortech SC what injector size will i need.

Keith: Yeah I know about the bog mine was doing that too from time to time. That might be why my MPH was down.

i know this is kind of off topic but my car had a similar setup to yous when i bought it and i switched 30# injectors for 24's and i noticed a huge difference in power also i bought a set of nitto drag radials and they hook up great would reccomend them to anyone

:stupid: I agree, from personal experience I don't think the 30#'s are helping you at all. I think you can still bump your timing up a little bit too. Get some 3.73's, drag radials & a tach..Your car has the potential to run 12's. Don't be too hard on yourself, it was only your first time. Just make some changes, practice & eventually you'll get better times.

hopefully in the spring of next year. However i want to make sure that the traction situation is squared away and i am running better than 14.60's. What are your thoughts on the ET streets vs BFG DR vs NITTO. Also how much difference betweeen 3.55 or 3.73.

My bad, forgot you had a 5 speed, go for the 4.10's. Nitto's would be you're cheapest buy & they perform pretty good from what I've heard. I'll let someone who's run them chip in on that. I'm consindering the BFG's myself just coz Nitto doesn't seem to have the size I'm looking for.

edit Why I recommend 4.10's for a 5-speed: My friend just put my old stock motor with ~170k miles on it in his 5-speed, it felt more torquier with the 5-speed..then he added 4.10's and damn! Brought the thing to life! It was a lot of fun to drive, I couldn't believe it was the same motor.

Not really a huge difference, but I'm sure they'd help..again since you're planning on going with a blower changing the gears would help out now, but once you supercharge it you would probably want to go back to the 3.55's so I guess you gotta make that call..
