I was notified by one of my informed co-workers that carbon buildup can cause more heat since carbon tends to hold heat. This stored heat can in turn cause detonation. Other cause could be due to restriction in the fuel line caused by carbon buildup. Since I have new fuel injectors I don't think this would be the possibility but internal carbon buildup does make sense to me. He also suggests "walnut shells" or "seafoam".
I have read most the many pages of thread on seafoam on this forum and would like to give it a try. I understand some noticed consequences by other users and am willing to replace spark plugs if necessary.

I want to sc my gt so bad but the tuning issues is my biggest deal. being stationed in alaska it would pretty much be impossible to get it tune as nobody really does it. I was hoping seeing this kit would let me avoid a tune till I was back in the lower 48 but looks like it's back to square one
If you buy a wide band and the Sniper software you can data log a couple street runs and send the file to Willie. He can edit the tune and you can go run it again and data log then send it back to him and he can tweak it some more. Its more time consuming and you may leave 10-15 hp on the table cause he will keep the tune safe but in your situation it would work the best.
MPH used to be one of the best mail order tune and kit providers .... has that changed? Because I'd check them out if you're worried about a drivable tune. A few service members can vouch for Tim and Co.
Thanks for the advice. Other than convincing the wife to give me the money (lol) the tune part is the biggest thing holding me back. I just can't decide on what kit would give me the best bang for the buck ya know. I am thinking of getting an SCT programmer for xmas this year but are you guys saying I should get a sniper instead? Is the price similar? Can I get canned tunes for life the way I can with the other handheld units? And also if I go to get it dyno tuned in the future will I have to buy a hand held? Ugh I heard that widebands are expensive.....I may be best off just waiting till 2011 when I hopefully go back stateside. But to the OP congrats on the install and I can't wait for my day to come!
I want to get the car tuned this week and the earlier the better. I dealt with Mustang Ranch in Santa Clara when I was working on the SC project for spark plugs. They seem to know have good experience in working with KB setups. I was considering going there for the tune. Any recommendations around San Jose, CA?
