2.3 5-SPEED?

It won't handle more torque, it was designed to handle less actually even if it isn't by much. The gear ratios are different and will make the car harder to drive at the track (from what people tell me with 2.3 5 speeds). I'm using a 2.3 5 speed until I save up enough dough to get a TKO or something of that sort. $75 is pretty cheap, go to a junk yard and pull out a pedal assembly, bellhousing, cable etc... out of a 2.3 and make a "5 speed conversion kit" and sell that for $700 :D A guy in Quebec sells the kits for $1500 (2.3) and $2000 for a V8. I found a pedal assembly that I'll pick up and keep the parts so I can sell my 2.3 5 speed to someone as a kit and that will help pay for my new tranny :D

I just bought a working 5 speed transmision for $75, as a back up. It is out of a 2.3L mustang. The guy who sold it said that it will handel more torque than the one in my car now!

Is this true?

Not a bad price but still not what you are looking for. :)(u wanted a T-5 should of let me know)

The 4 cyl tranny is geared different. If you do use it, your car will feel very tourquey at low revs, and generally just pull better through the RPM band.

Andrew had been using 4 cyl tranny's in his Silver Notch for years and everyone thought his car was geared and all it was, was a 4 cyl tranny.

Do you have another transmission? I thought you only had the gt40 motor.
Want to sell me the heads of the motor? I i'll trade you plus some cash :D

What do you have to trade?? For the right price the whole engine goes and a good price it is :) Have to make room for the 4 bolt block. I don't have the tranny's but I know of 2 one just 2 min up the street and one maybe a 15 min drive. PM me and let me know. I am off to work.

Thats what I've heard before.. :spot:

People tell me they lost almost a full second on the 1/4 because of the 4 banger gearing? Hey I hope it isn't true because I still would like to destroy ricers at the track and on the street. (sorry for the sort of OT replies). A 15 second Mustang will result in a lot of ricers getting back at me lol I don't wanna get :owned:

I know in andrew's old car it felt like a set of 3.73's or 4.10's and it was stock gearing in the car. He had very good luck with the 4 cyl tranny too. LAsted him a few years, and the car was not driven easy by any means.

Oh yeah Fred, I found you your MAF conversion too. Along with a Hypertech ECU.

One trip to the track this year with street tires and broke a 2.3 trainny.I usually brake 3 a summer.Sucky.The ratio is nice but not very strong. If you are getting 4 banger trans for 75 buck I want one.Now I'm looking for a spare.I'm in Moncton.

BTW, you'll need a bearing such as a Timken 202FF :) Don't even say Mustang or SAAB or anything but the part number. The parts guy got so confused when I told him 4 banger Mustang tranny onto a 302 and that I need a part from a SAAB to fit, etc... Funny thing is that the parts guy I talked to is a self-proclaimed "Mustang expert"...
