I'm doing a 2.3 to 5.8 swap and i thought in case any other people were doing this some of the things i found might help I started with a 1992 lx 2.3 I bought a 91 crown vic 5.8 interceptor if you can this is the way the go useing the crown vic you will not have to buy a double hump oil pan, ok if you got the way i have then your probably going corroborated excuse my spelling by the way pretty much everything on the crown vic engine wise will fit under the hood I used a new set of 5.0 covertable motor mounts the stock manifolds fit just fine and I am able to put the stock hood on it but the 2.3 transmition is longer than the one out of the crown vic so your drive shaft will be to short assuming your using the AOD out of the crown vic the crown vic also has a mechanical fuel pump all you have to do is hook your fuel lines into that unplug your electric fuel pump so its not running but you can still use it as a fuel gauge the mechanical pump will pull fuel though the electric pump so no tank modifications and the fronk springs will support the 5.8 just fine i left my motor bone stock so if you go the same way i did your rear end will work just fine your power stearing and alternator from the 2.3 will work with the 5.8 also the 92 i have does not have a double hump cross member like many sites told me though i found it unnecessary but since your transmition is just a little shorter i had to weld a plate on the crossmember to support the transmition mount. to insanley simplify thing its helps to have the doner car crown vic and not just the motor. i hope this is somewhat helpfull I post some videos on youtube soon as i can and if the picture links work I painted my motor a pretty obnoxious color so be nice lol

in this forum most of us are sticking with the 2.3 so your best bet may be to post this over in the 5.0 forums as we typically only swap out the na for a turbo engine as it is a pretty cheap and easy swap and we enjoy being different and staying efi so we have great performance and fuel economy still so thanks for your post but you may find more people are interested on the 5.0 forums but again thanks for sharing your information on putting the 351 into your car

Well Im glad to see that people are still a-holes goin from 2.3 to 5.8 makes it a 2.3 issue being that it applies to 2.3 cars still when it says fuel economy forums then you will be correct and getting 3 more mpg does not make fuel efficient my 2.3 got 21mpg and my 5.8 gets 18

Not really. Most everyone in this forum is either hopping/fixing up the 2.3, or putting a turbo engine in.
most people discussing the swaps are in the 5.0 forums.
So you are getting 18 with a carbed 351? wow that's impressive. is that highway or city or combined?

My 87 LX was running 12's with it's 2.3 turbo and the best it ever did was 28 hwy and 19 in town with me beating on it. if I was nice to it usually I could get 22-23 in town. Best part of that car was that I had less than 1500 in it total. Gotta love it.
On the flip side my Procharged 5.0 only gets about 9 in town, and I can eek 20 out on the hwy if I am nice to it.

its nothing special its a 2 barrel and after i stripped off all the government bs and in the light mustang its pretty good my drive to work is mostly highway though so that helps im sure. my pour old 2.3 i had to keep to the floor just to keep up with traffic but it is amazingly reziliant motor 300,000+ hard hard miles cant say the same about the automatic thats in it I drove it as what i liked to call semi auto till i had it rebuilt. but i never got more than 21 to 22 mpg out of it. its still has alot of life it
