2.5 cat-back to stock H-pipe? Searched 1st

I searched the posts but I really couldn't find an answer to this. I just purchased a 2.5 inch cat-back system for my 89 LX and I got thinking if my stock H-pipe is 2.25 inches will this 2.5 system bolt to it? They sure do make it sound that way in all the ads. This is probably a dumb question but I just want to be prepared before I take my car apart. Thanks.

Not a problem at all bolting the two different size components together. The 2 1/2" cat back systems are made for either bolting to the stock H pipe or aftemarket H pipes. Good luck.

You shouldn't have any problems. 2 1/2" cat-back is the most common aftermarket exhaust. If there was issues there would be posts all over the place about pissed off Stangers. The way it hooks up is like a ball socket, one end is rounded and the other flanged. You just tighten down the 2 bolts (on each pipe) to pull them together to make a seal. Good Luck

Never hurts to ask. You might get some smart ass answers to really no brainer installs, but you will get some good ones as well. I always ask before I do any job, you never know if somebody has some tips on how to make (any) install easier.
