Could you provide a link to one somewhere? They were not done on a production level... few test mules, but they had the motors ready. 2001 was the return and then it was another gap to 2003.

And why not carb the modular and throw in a disti too and make it even easier?

but yea, the 03/04 cobras have some very nice engines if i had the money to put one in my car better belive i wouldn't even hesitate.

Yes and no. All Cobra's got fordged cranks. When they put the superchargers on them in 2003, they got good rods, forged pistons and iron blocks in addition to the forged crank.

someone posted before that you can get a stroked 5.0 for the price of 4,000...how is that even possible when the regular ford racing create engine is $3,100. The ford racing engine comes with the accessories on the engine. is there a stroked 5.0 with all the accessories for near $4000?

You can get stroker short blocks for under $2k. Turn-key dyno'd motors are in the $5k-$6k range. Stroked 5.0s come in many different displacements but the most common are 331 and 347.

Cobras only cam eout in 1999, 2001, and 2003-4. There are no 2000, or 2002 Cobras. There is a 2000 Cobra R. And they did sell 2000 Cobra crate motors.

Here's the story my research turned up regarding the "2000" Cobra crate engines when I made the purchase:

After the overrated horsepower debacle with the '99 Cobras, SVT reworked a few components to make the engine live up to the 315 hp/315 tq (or thereabout) claims. Although the '00 Cobra was shelved there was still an application for the engine: the Panoz Esperante. All of the '00 setups are leftovers from that production run, and that's why the kits are so very complete. they are everything you need (basically) to turn a Panoz Esperante roller into a running, driving car, complete with anti-theft, keyless, etc.

My original plan was to use high-end EFI stroker Windsors (347 or ?). By the time I priced everything out all the way down to the last detail, the Cobra engine package was too good a deal to pass up. Plus, I will admit that the "wow" factor is important for the market I'm courting. The install wasn't that bad as long as you're not afraid to get a little creative with the metalwork.

In 2000, the Cobra R was the only cobra produced for America. There were, however, 200 Cobras made and all shipped to Austrailia. Don't ask why Ford didn't keep them here, they just didn't.

how doest the front suspension work without the shocktowers? also, what did you do about the electronics? meaning ignition, guages, ect?

The Mustang II-type front suspension is an entirely different type that is much more compact and doesn't require the shock towers. Instead of the spring/damper combo going between the upper control arm and the shock tower, it goes between the lower control arm and a perch that is at roughly the same level as the new upper control arm.

The electronics are a combination of things. The factory harness & computer for the 4.6L (with modifications) runs the engine, and the rest is a combination of stock '67 harness and custom.
