2000 gt computer issue

I have a 2000 gt that got hit by lightning. I turned it on afterwards and smoke came from around radio area, the airbag light is on and dinging, and the radio and wipers started acting up, now they both quit at the same time. What should I do to try and fix it or what could be wrong with it ???

Check all your fuses first. I would then test the ecu and determine if it is working. Then you may have to start tracing wires looking for shorts.

WOW.

Check the grounds. Especially the one behind the center console.

Do you plan on fixing this yourself?

damn...sorry to hear about that.

Electrical issues suck. Everything including ECU might be fried. I would just call your insurance company.

all my fuses appear to be good... I was hoping to fix it myself. But not sure how lol... how do you test the ecu ? and where is it located thanks

Is the ground behind console under the carpet ?

If you turn the key on and do not crank, what happens after the dash light prove out? Does the theft light go out? Does the mileage show? If yes, it's likely the PCM is functioning at some level.

The other way to test the PCM is to connect an ODB2 reader and attempt to download any DTC codes. If the PCM and ODB2 reader talk to each other, likely the PCM is working.

The PCM is located in the passenger's kick panel. IMO, there's no reason to remove it unless it is bad.

The easiest way to find the ground behind the center console is to remove the radio and follow the black wires from the radio.

There are several other control modules behind the dash (air bag, seat belt, GEM), a visual inspection may turn up the module that smoked.
