2000 GT problem

My car has been running weird lately. It was shutting off right when I started it for a day or so, then for a while it would idle high (about 2-2.5k) for a few seconds when I pushed the clutch in and then drop to about 1k rpm. Now it's idling at about .5k or it will move up and down between .5k and 1k rpm.

What could be the problem?

I have the same problem on my '00 GT 'Vert...kind of.
When I put it in reverse (Auto) it sometimes revs up like I tapped on the pedal for a few seconds. I am thankful I have my foot on the brake when it happened.
