I recently rebuilt my engine with the 5.1 Stoker kit from Coast high. Replaced almost everything on the engine. Oil pump water pump and i got the heads cleaned and a valve job. Now 4000 miles later its starting to tick. It ticks louder at start up and continues to tick when its warmed up. The tick gets a bit quieter when its warmed up though. Gets faster with RPM Its on the passenger side. Thought it might be a lifter or rocker so i replaced all 8 with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heres a video of the noise:

When I had the lifters and rockers replace I had him check the cam and he said everything looked fine with the cam so I don't think it's that.

Pull the valve cover and check it out.

I already had a mechanic look under there. Say by what he could tell everything looked okay. Replaced all the rockers and lifters. He said the cams look good too. May a valve?? Or guide??

it maybe a cam chain tensioner not pumping up fully. I would pull the vavle covers (i know its a pain) and put towles on the inside fenders, start it up and see if the chain is slapping or maybe you'll find something eles.

I have trickflow stage 2 cams 580 lift. and they did hit the inside valve cover. It sounded the same as yours does, but i noticed it at the very begining.

yea not for a long time. It slings oil everwhere but you most likely find your problem. be sure to do just the one side and hold a towle up to catch some oil.

I've found out that the sound is louder over the center of the intake manifold and over the valve covers. Idk if that helps any.

** the sound is louder over the center of the intake manifold rather than over valve cover.

You have a plug backing out. That is exactly what my car sounded like before I blew a plug. Check your spark plugs.

In the first vid the sound, to me, is too heavy to be a valvetrain tick. I'd call that more of a "knock."

In the 2nd vid I get the same feeling. Sounds like there's a reciprocating assembly knock. But something sounds "sloppy" to me. It might be worth pulling the front cover to inspect the timing chains, guides, tensioners etc...

I changed all the spark plugs and still had the noise.

And yea the noise is a bit loud when I start it cold like in these videos but after I drive her about 30 it quiets down. But what kind of knock would be so consistent like this. I was thinking if it was a rod bearing, blown rod, or piston play it would be a bit more unconstistent. But then again I hear so many bad things about these 5.1 stroker kits blowing up after a few thousand miles.

And also it sounds like the sound is coming from to far back to be the timing assembly. It's mainly the loudest right behind the intake plenum closest to the fire wall. Anythings really worth a shot to help this stop though.

I popped the hood today and mine sounds just like yours....im guessing its vavle train noise becuase of the high lift and the standard trickflow spring???idk

It hasn't gotten any louder or gave me any problems yet. No loss of power or anything. It's hard to hear anything at high rpm because of my exhuast. But I was thinking about just taking it to ford and having the hook up all the special tools they have to try and find it out. But as long as it doesn't give me any problems. It's more annoying than anything right now.

So just an update i went under the car and this is what i found. 2 EXTREMELY loose transmission bolts that connect the bell housing to the motor and 1 bolt that was completely gone! I haven't been able to check the two top bolt because i cant reach them! Like wtf its only been 4000 miles since this rebuilt! Can i sue this mechanic if he refuses to fix it or what?
