I have a 2001 Mustang Cobra that has a solid rear axle....I purchased it like that and the only mods i have on it is: Magnaflow exhaust, magnaflow offroad xpipe, densecharger cold air kit with a pro-m 80 maf......I was told that I should replace the driveshaft and the flywheel, and to also get a better clutch.......someone else told me that its a common issues with that year cobra, and its a combination of the bottom end of the engine and tranny..........I NEED HELP!

Has anyone out there experienced this vibration problem! I usually feel it in 4th gear around 100-110 mph or so! I can take first thru third gears to redline with no vibrating.....only after that at that speed range.....ITs really bad.....I hear a moaning noise and my shifter shakes around and i feel it in the pedals too!!!

PLEASE ADVISE!

Thanks !

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Try indexing the driveshaft before you "throw parts at the problem." :)

To index the driveshaft, simply unbolt it and rotate it 90 degrees. Take note of the original configuration first, in case you need to index the driveshaft multiple times before the problem gets better.

Improperly balanced tires could also be a culprit...

Additionally, you might want to get in touch with user Lo Pony (try e-mailing him via his profile instead of sending a PM). He published a "driveline vibration" webpage specifically addressing the 99/01 driveline vibration issue in great detail (targeted at 99/01 cobras that had the IRS - some of the information was also pertinent to solid axle cars though). Unfortunately, his webpage is no longer hosted - it was an excellent resource! According to his user profile, he last visited the site in Sep of 2004...

G'luck.

What do you know about the 8.8 in there? Does it have factory gears, axles, etc?

But the others are right, start simple. Check the tires for odd wear first and foremost and work your way backwards through the drivetrain.

I also have a 2001 Cobra but don't have that problem. Start simple. Are your tires balanced and in good order?

the tires are in great condition and professionally balanced....so i really doubt it could be that.....I will be taking the car to a shop to do an over all inspection.

honestly....i dont know....but im pretty sure that the gears are stock.....I had 4.10's on my old 96 cobra and i know how that affects your rpm gauge.....so its not that.....as far as axles, im going to take it in to be looked at.

i will have ford look into that for me......but on another note, I see that you have a magnaflox catted x-pipe....i have the off-road version and was wondering if you also suffer from what i do?

if my car is idling and i hit tha gas hard....its sounds like it bogs down low! like its conjested but it clears in about a second or so then it fine?

do you think that related to the fact that I dont have cats and therefore lack of backpressure?
