2001 GT 425hp Supercharged, will it break?

Hey,

I’m thinking about buying a 2001 Mustang GT, 5 spd, with 82,000 miles.

It has a Procharger P-1SC on it, and a little exhaust work.

The car dyno’ed at 425hp. The car was also tuned at the same time.

Now my question is will the engine and drivetrain be ok on a 2001 Mustang GT with this much power, when everything is pretty stock, and that number of miles? As said before though, the car was tuned by a very good Mustang/Ford tuner.

I wouldn't really trust any one selling a supercharged mustang. For one thing, the AFR can change with simple mods, so you would never know the true AFR unless he got it tuned, and stopped modding. I would want to see the dyno graph. 80k miles isn't real the main concern. You just want to make sure the AFR is good. If you really want the car, have the compression checked. Just make sure the tune is dialed in, and the motor is healthy.

Do you actually know this 'very good Mustang/Ford tuner'? Or did the person youre buying from just tell you he knows what he's doing? 425 w/ only exhaust mods suggests to me that either he's running the 10lb pulley or that thing is preettty darn lean - either of which isnt best for the stock block.

And as T-sho mentioned, try to get a straight answer out of them about reasons for selling - if the Procharger has only been on there for a short time, something smells fishy. There's not many people who would spend the time and money on a supercharger only to sell the car soon after...

Hey,

Yes, I know the tuner who tuned the car, hes the best in the area.

I have seen the dyno sheet as well.

The ProCharger has been on the car for over 6 months.

Thanks for any help or info you can give me.

My car has been at slightly lower, the same, and now a tiny bit higher power levels for over a year and a half...but I only have 25k miles on my car

I, personally, would not buy a used blower mustang unless there was photo as well as receipt documentation for everything done to the car, there are way way too many variables to deal with.

Honestly, mileage wont really be much of an issue as long as it's tuned well and the compression is good. The internals, tranny, and rear end are made to withstand that much power, anything more your gonna want to make sure it's supported. But as long as the parts are able to support that much power, it's really no different then a stock vehicle.

as far as putting the S/c snf delling it right away I know it happens alot because someone will spend all kinds of money and not be able to afford the car itself afterwords (gas,maintence etc)

Yeah, i woudnt worry about them selling after just getting the procharger installed either, as long as the car checks out, its all good. I just got my vortech setup done about 5 months ago and want to sell my car. I think for people like me, once i finish a project, i'm bored and want something else to do. thats why i want to sell mine, but i have way too much money into mine that i will never recoup the cost so kinda stuck with it. Oh well.

With the proper tune anything can last. I would ask for some dyno sheets. 2V motors can make SICK power with Prochargers. How many of the 82,000 miles are supercharged miles??

never buy a aftermarket supercharged car without expecting to have to replace something in the future. IE: shortblock.
