Hi, my wife was interested in a new car, so we drove a new 04 SVT cobra at our local dealer. It's silver, MSRP 36180. They're willing to go 2000 off MSRP. She liked the car, and so did I.

Is there anything we should watch out for? I'm not up to date on the new Cobras. It sounds like to me that there won't be another SVT until 2006. But what about inherant problems with the supercharger, etc.? Is there anything we should know, or just go for it?

Is the 34180 price decent?

Thanks!

Is it a convertible? 34000 should be the MSRP for a coup. The 05 mustangs should be out soon and there are a lot of rebates out there for the Mustangs; including the Cobras. Of course you will pay what you wish to, but I would pay less because of the 05's.
So far I have heard nothing, but great things on the Supercharged Cobra. Then again I don't own one but I have read alot about them.
A friend of mine installed a cold air kit and gained an easy 40hp!!!

Good luck on your decision.

I think you should go for it. Ford has that motor down. No recalls that I have heard of.The only thing that I have to complain about the mustang is that it sucks in the rain. The rear end is kind of light and can get away from you if not carefull. But then again I like to get my mustang sideways!!!!!

Man i had the same dilema, but i went for it! and i love it, this car is the ultimate mustang, the only stock mustang that can beat this would be the 00 cobra R, and they were 50,000$!. this is a ton car of car for the money, what color are you looking at? as for the problems the dealer will tell you that everything, including the S/C are included in a long warrenty. this thing can be driven everyday, or on the track! its a great car, plus no LS1 will be able to beat you(thats my favorite part) i say go for it! what the run down on the one you were looking at? wheels, color, stereo, that stuff?

Get the Cobra. You'll love it.

I put 36K on an '03, sold it in March and bought an '04. Paid invoice for it, so the only thing the dealer put in his pocket was the holdback. If you can't get it for invoice or +1-2% over, head for the door and another dealer. I bet they won't let you get that far.

No inherent problems, it's still has a warranty. But it it is fast, leadfoot. Sure, it's for "the wife". It reallly depends on the body style you like.

There are problems with the cobras, but as long as you keep it stock, they will fix them. I love my cobra, and I don't think there is any car shy of a 360 that I would trade it for.

Thanks guys for the info.

We're looking at either a silver one or the "Redfire" red one. Can't decide which one.

Any suggestions? I just bought an 04 Excursion from this same dealer, should we hit them for invoice? What's reasonable to expect?

If you just bought an 04 excursion you bet your ass you better get it for invoice!!!!!

They should make you one heck of a deal.

I got a decent deal on my 01 L right after my dad bought an 01 F-250 from the same dealer. I said I would like to stay local but if they wanted to dick me around I would go to OH where a dealer had 12 and was making killer deals. So they got my a decent trade value and came down a good amount on the truck price.

They need to go down another $1K off the price. $33K would be just about right especially if you bought an X from them!
