Hey all,

I just finished replacing the front and rear timing chain guides and tensioners on my SOHC 4.0. I went ahead and used the more expensive Cloyes timing chain kit knowing I didn't want to do this again. After running the engine a few minutes I looked down the oil fill cap and noticed that the timing chain wasn't getting any oil. I double checked on a friends 4.0 and you could clearly see oil being flung around by the chain. How can I check that my chains are getting oil? Oil pressure is at 58 PSI but that is from the block.

Is there a way to pressurize the oil system without running the engine? Or could it be something else..?

Any help would be appreciated - Ryan
