Just picked up the latest issue of Hot Rod magazine. They modified the car some to run12.3 in the quarter with no serious power adders(NOS or Blowers). They also reduced the weight of the car by 300lbs! They did replace some of the suspension for lighter and better materials. I think they replaced the rearend with a 9" and 4.30 gears. Upgrded the exhaust system and did a dyno tune on it. I don't have the book in hand. It's at work so I'm trying to remember as much as I can. They've only had the car for a week. Can't wait to see what else they have planned. Just thought I'd let you guys know. Pearl02.

I will have to get use to the body style before I like the 05s. I just love how the the 99-04s look.

It wasn't a simple mod car, here is what it has done:

Headers w/exhaust
Gears w/rear end mods
New suspension components front and rear Shocks/Springs
Skinnies up front and slicks out back
Full SCT tune

I love the new Torque modulation in the 05, go try to burn out in one.

It isn't that impressive to me, with all of the same done to a 99-04 GT I am sure it would see 12's also.

why so many 05 haters? Just about everyone agrees it looks better. But everyone has their own opinion.

With those few mods there is now way you're going to get a 99-04 GT to run 12.30's

well...I'm thankful Ford made the '05 GT. If they didn't, I wouldn't have bought my '04 Cobra

Well, its my OPINION that most people like the new stylr better. Be it stang owners or not. Seems like i always hear people complimenting the new style. Yes, the 99-04's are nice. i have a 96 and think the 96-98s look a little better. Both are nice though. Just seems that all the 99 - 04 owners out there are a tad biased. I think they cant admit it to themselves that the 05 looks better. Maybe they thought Ford woudl use the sn95 platform for another ten years.

I got a 97 GT Convertible love the round body... G/F has a 99 V6 and that thing grew on me fast! Now 05's.... Totally different... Ford targeted the older group on these rides... And a 99-04 gt will run mid 12's with those mods... not too impressive with a car that comes out with 40 more hp!!! You know why people dont know if it runs that? How many mustangs you see 99-04 with a complete new rear end and only the mods they shown?

believe me, I wish it were some sort of delusion like that. I'd like to get a new car within the next 5 years but the 05 Stang is just not good looking. but when I can afford a new car, hopefully they'll have fixed the 05 style some. engine + suspension is something I'd love though.
