Hi , im new to the site but in 2004 my wife and I ordered a 05 Roush car from Dale Jarrett. Im kinda stumped. When we ordered the vehicle we were told that Roush was not ready for the 05 (new body style ect) and stages were not available. We were given a couple catalogs and told to pick out the options that we wanted on the car. Now here is the question, when the car arrived, it was I assume considered a Sport but equipped with about everything but a supercharger. It is one of only a hand fully built in 5,6&,7 that were Redfire Met w/ cream leather interior w/ an automatic.It has custom 20 in wheels and 20 in tires/ lower and handling package/ the R pedals/R floor mats/ tool kit/carbon fiber trim inside/ windshield strip/ does not have the slotted rear valence/window vent covers/R white signed gauges/all Roush emblems & body kit/ misc. chrome under the hood/ R air intake & box/ they even let me order a different hood that they said was from Ford that I know Roush didn't offer and all this from the factory/dealership. I really don't know if this vehicle would be considered a true Sport or should be listed as a Stage car. We ordered the car in late 04 and in very early 05 took delivery . At the time Dale Jarrett had some Roushes on the lot but all were sticks.----Last 6 digits of ser.# 197921. Did this happen very often? We still have the vehicle with about 2000 miles on it. Well I have still been working on a registry for all the 2005 Roush Mustangs and it is very far along. I figured out that the last production date for forklift holes was May 12, 2005. The "production start date" is different from the "completion date". Sometimes they are weeks apart. The completion date is basically the born on date, and the production start date is the date the order was put together.
Seems they switched over on May 12th as there are some cars with and some without holes even though they shared the same production date.
What is the use of the forklift hole?
According to roush it was used in the wind tunnel development to eliminate pressure from the rear panel. So it is an aero thing.
So how many cars have them and how many don't? Well about 1170 cars have them, out of about 2060. I'm still figuring it out as there are mustangs from 1 to 2248 but roush numbered all cars in order so you have to weed out the F-150s and such. Plus there were two 2005 cars using the 2004 numbering I believe (9991 and 9990) so it's kind of messy. Then there was a car sent to Dale Jarrett Ford which does not have a build (serial) number, so it's not an exact science.
Go to the roush website and type in "VIN search" and you can see your car's info.
I still own my 2005 sonic blue roush (16k miles).

At the time we bought the vehicle the dealership told us the packages were not confirmed yet. They gave us a Roush catalog and Steeda catalog. We have Steeda wheels and tires / Steeda Hood/ and some misc Steeda chrome-- all was installed on vehicle w/ warranty when we picked it up ??I can post pics later, I don't have any with me. Its a beautiful car. I thought it might be the one talked about from Dale Jarrett ford . it is a #ed roush car. ThanksPics? It sounds like the dealership sold you a bunch or add-ons vs. any particular package.

I used to be jack1.1 but since I have been gone for a year I guess they wiped out my account here at stangnet. No biggie as I’m back as jack1.2. Anyway, about the Roush forklift holes and to respond to some of the earlier posts.
First, the Roush VIN search at the Roush performance website stinks. They took it down for about a year and just put it back up. However, now it tells you nothing but a vague color and that your car is a Roush. What do I mean by a vague color? I mean I run my car and it comes back “blue”. Which blue? Is it windveil blue or sonic blue? Does not say. So the VIN search now is basically useless as it provides no information. Sorry to vent, but it is totally useless now. It doesn’t even tell you what stage your car is, production date, Roush serial number, nothing. It used to, I guess that stuff is secret information now.
I got some of the info though from before to help figure out my forklift registry so unless you know someone at Roush with the keys to the database your not going to find any info on the Roush mustangs.
As for the guy above “Big R”, I can tell you your car is a sport, or at least was born as a sport, and your production date was 5/31/05. It is a G2 automatic which is redfire.
As for Kristopher above I would say a new LCA will get you traction in the rear. I replaced my stock ones with GT500 LCAs and the car totally settled down in the back. I’m sure any aftermarket ones will stiffen up the bushings in your LCAs and that will work, mine did big time. So my advice is to replace your LCAs.
Returning to the registry, like I mention in earlier posts (under my old name jack1.1), I have been working on it for years, i have VIN numbers and many of the corresponding Roush serial numbers. I have 2058 VIN numbers for 2005 cars and corresponding Roush serial numbers for just over half of them. So I can probably tell you quite a bit about your car, especially if it’s a forklift car. The later, 2005 cars (like mine, a non-forklift, later 2005) I didn’t concentrate as much on.
So unless Roush fixes the VIN search database the info will not get out there.
Some of the info you used to be able to find out from the VIN search was:
Build date, model (stage 1,2, sport), VIN, interior color, transmission, exterior color code, production date, if it had the Roush leather interior or not, Roush stripes or not, selling dealer name and location.
Fun fact, I have never seen a convertible with fork lift holes. They don’t exist.

Im actually in the middle of an engine swap on the roush so I don’t have many good pics of the mustang right now , but I’ve been trying to find my car online but can’t find any information about it but then stumbled upon this thread seems like you guys know a lot so would love some help .After you saying they convertible with forklift holes don’t exist I was starting to worry my car wasn’t a real roush
This may sounds crazy but I have a 05 roush mustang stage 1 convertible with forklift holes . VIN- 1ZVFT85H855193987, Roush SN- 05-1156, I recently bought this car from some one else , it’s has red leather interior but not sure if it’s all original. After you saying they convertible with forklift holes don’t exist I was starting to worry my car wasn’t a real roush , would appreciate any help thank you I know I’m years late but still see post . The suspense is killing me .

Read what’s underneath the vin search , it’s say “may not match the vehicle that you searched for” it’s so strange because my car is black with red stripes not white . I’m not the original owner so idk all the changes but was told it was a stage 1 guess he was wrong .
There's a Roush 2005 Mustang for sale near me. Roush S/N is 05-2179. Site says it is a stage 1. Can you tell me what might have been done to the car? The rear bumper does not have holes, but I can see the tail pipes are not standard Ford GT pipes.
