2007 Mustang GT Under Hood Electrical Connections Question

Hi Guys,

I had a shelby cobra front bumper put on my car and now under my hood there are three connectors not connected. Can anyone tell me what they are and where they need to be connected to:

Unfortunately, the only thing you needed from the GT500 wiring harness was the fog light adapters. To get your new fog lights working, you need to cut off the adapters from the GT500 harness and splice them into your exisitng harness.

You did not need to swap out the harness.

I made this mistake as well. I posted pictures just like you did. I also ended up with an airbag light (I believe) on the dash. I noticed your other post regarding the airbag light. I reinstalled the original GT wiring harness, and spliced the fog light adapters from the GT500 wiring harness. My airbag light ceased to exist once I switched back to the original GT wiring harness.

You should be able to remove the GT500 harness and install the original GT harness without removing the bumper. Just be sure to add the correct length of wire to reach the GT500 fog lights. DO NOT cut the GT500 foglight adapters near the adapter. Instead, remove the wiring from the black protective conduit, and cut the wire about 1.5 feet from the adapter. Then you'll only have to cut and splice once for each side.

Do you have the part number for the stock 2007 GT Wiring Harness, the body shop that did my car did not give it back to me. Also how much of a pain is this to hook up.

Swapping out the harness is a no brainer. Just make sure you lay the GT wiring harness in line with the GT500 harness before you remove it. Then remove the GT500 harness piece by piece so that you put the GT harness back into the right place.

Again, when you cut the fog light adapter off the GT500 harness, make sure you cut a good 1.5-2 feet from the end of the adapter. Don't just cut off near the adapter because you need the extra wire to reach from the existing GT fog light wire location.

And that's it. All of the connectors will snap back into place. Now I just have to figure out "IF" the body shop gave back the harness, which I doubt. If not I will call up Ford and order one. Then my friends will have to put in about an hour or two to help me get this thing right.

OK So I bought the 2007 Mustang GT Fog Light Wiring Harness

According to my dealership 6R3Z*14290*DB

Here is a picture of it:

I took it outside to look at the connections under the hood that looked like they matched up and still CANNOT figure out what connects to that connector in the third picture above.

Did I get the wrong wiring harness from the dealer?

Please let me know.

on my 05, i believe that wire connects to the other harness on the fender apron. it connects the two harnesses.

my finger is pointing to it in the pic taken from the front, and the other pic is taken from behind the fuse box. i dont have the active alarm like you do, so its a little different there.

I looked under my hood for any place to connect that thing to... It's amazing... I wonder what it does.... Also, does that look like the right harness???

What is that black box attached the my shock tower? That is where that connector is attached to.

is that junction box for the alarm????? Because my horn beeps twice when I hit the lock button twice when before the install it only beeped once...

The large connector with the red faceplate and the black fuse box on your strut tower were part of the GT500 wiring harness. Are you saying that after you replaced the GT500 wiring harness for the GT wiring harness, that you left the black box remaining on your strut tower?

No I didn't change the wiring harness yet. I just wondered where that plugged into. Is that the proper wiring harness that I have

... I just want to make sure before I begin to take apart the car.

Yeah, the wiring harness laying on your floor looks to be the right one. That black box on your strut tower is part of the GT500 wiring harness, and will come off when you replace it with the GT wiring harness.

Also, you can pretty much do the wiring harness swap without removing the front fascia (bumper). When I made the same mistake you did, I reinstalled the GT wiring harness without the need to remove the bumper.

That large gray adapter on the end of the harness fits inside the fuse box. Remove the access cover, and loosen the bolts that sit in the middle of the fuse box. You can't miss them, then flip the fuse box over, and remove the existing GT500 adapter.

Start at the fuse box. That large rectangular shaped connector just snaps into place once you loosen the bolts inside the fuse box and flip it over. Then simply work your way down the wiring harness piece by piece.

I can't say, I didn't really pay attention. You have the correct wiring harness, so there shouldn't be any concern. Once you put the stock GT wiring harness back in, you wont' have any rogue connections.
