My dad is #2 on the list to get one at Joe Myers Ford here in Houston. Fresh pair of underwear anyone?

Great car! I'm in love, but how much over sticker is your father willing to pay? I get sooo sick of ford dealers gold digging on these newer mustangs. I could buy an 05 or new mustang sometime this summer but I won't give the dealers my cash after all the stories I have heard since the 05's first released.

Sorry about the tangent, I just don't like ford dealers, I do love the cars especially that GT500KR

Our local dealership has one (2007, GT500) on the showroom and my Dad went in there to ask about it. He couldn't get them to budge on anything because they put it up on eBay. He had called and called and went there for well over a year now waiting and being told one thing or another, only to find out the dealership wants to make the biggest buck they can.

Sure, you could make $20k over sticker, but is the loss of business from a minimum of 4 individuals for a lifetime worth that much?

My Dad is now looking at a Z06.

The GT500KR is actually the only newer mustang since the 03/04 Cobras that I would purchase. At least on paper, the GT500KR is a complete package with an emphasis on handling (which is way too important to not have near the top of the upgraded list).

That being said.........the Shelby GT500s in the Atlanta area sticker anywhere from $65K on up to just over $70K. Can't imagine what the KR will go for.

IF I could buy the GT500KR for MSRP, I would strongly consider getting rid of my car to make room for it in my garage. Unfortunately, it will never be sold at anything near MSRP.

How much is he putting down to buy this car and what will his monthly payments be? What type of work does your father do to be able to afford a GT500KR?

He is bringing them a deposit tomorrow, and he's going to pay cash for it. This is the same dealership he bought the 04 Mystichrome Cobra from, so I don't think they will jack up the price too much. He owns a roofing/sheetmetal business, and some kind of investment company that he never really talks about. I'm guessing they'll MSRP in the high 50k area, but probably sell for 70-80 thousand.

No offense, but it's not really a huge amount of money. Once you get the mortgage payed off its easy... My girl and I are in an apartment paying 1300 bucks a month for rent and despite college loans, car payments, etc etc we easily make our goal of banking 2Gs a month. You just have to be smart about it.

Of course for the amount of money these dealers are asking, anyone who really knows cars will opt for the faster, better engineered, more efficient, and sexier Z06...

Adam

edit: Not to mention, cash talks BIG time. Telling me a salesman won't knock thousands off if the guy says I'll bring 50K down here tomorrow? Everyone except the bank wins in that situation.

I've seen a regular gt500 in person and for some reason I would rather have the saleen extreme. I think it looks alot better. I'd take either one though
