So ive been thinking about buying a new car for a few months now and was really leaning to the G37S Coupe(used), but Ive loved Mustangs my whole life, Ive had 93 lx 5.0, and a 2004 Mach1, so when I saw the new 5.0 I had to go check it out.

I havent test drove it but its looks pretty sweet, and the build quality looks alot better than my 04 Mach1.

So which one do you guys think would be better in the long run, everytime I buy Mustang I feel like I could keep it forever but I never do.

So just looking for your thoughts.

Thanks!!!

I am not the most knowledgeable source on this, but I went with the '11 Mustang GT over the G37 because the trunk is much bigger, I think a v8 should last longer than a v6 (not based on studies - just my hunch), more power!, and better engine sound. I also thought the Mustang's ride was better, but i was comparing it to a G35 though. Things may have changed a bit!

Both are sweet rides BUT I like the history, cult following and classic styling of the new GT. :flag: Plus, I like all the mods and aftermarket parts available to the Stang in case you get bored with it stock. You really could not go wrong either way as both are great, Stang=Sporty Badass Ride or G37 Fast, Rich Lookin' Ride. Let us know whatcha get!

The residuals on the Mustang are more reliable and if you buy one you know your helping an American or two stay in work.
JD Power have put the mustang top in it's class for build quality.
Mustangs have a following that can only be compared to the likes of the Classic Mini and beetle, which makes a great owner community and pride of ownership.
It's an American ICON!!!!
The mustang is classless, you could be a multi millionaire and drive one, or a poor student and still get the same respect.
The G35/G37 (IMHO) just blends in with all the other cars, especially when they always seem to be silver!!!

Owned 2 G35 coupes

One was an Auto and the other a 6 speed- Great cars, sharp interior but lacking in power. The G 37 has a little more power but doesnt compare to the 5.0. Both G35s had a weird noise from the front end almost like a bad wheel bearing. It drove me nuts at crui:flag:sing speed.

If you liked your Mach 1 you will love the new GT. My wife's new GT has great build quality and has a nice interior. The G37 is nice but really is lacking in the power department if that is an issue for you.

I compared the G37 to the Mustang GT (2008) and got the GT. Why? Price difference of about 10,000 bucks. The G37 was not 10,000 better than the stang. Then I looked at maintenance costs and discovered a G37 was more money to care for as well. Staggered tires meant no tire rotation and they were expensive tires indeed. With the 2011 5.0 being a lot more expensive than my 4.6 GT (was to me) the purchase price is not so much of a factor. But check out the cost of ownership guesstimates over on Edwards. It may help some.

The G37 is a very nice car. It's got more power than the average person needs & handles well. But if I had to choose, I'd say 2011 GT. I had a '99 GT and I can tell you that the new mustangs from top to bottom, inside & out are light years better than your '04. Also, as someone stated earlier, keep those workers in the Flatrock assembly plant busy!

I agree, the g37 is a good car.. .but trackable? sure, with some work. the 5.0 can go straight to the track, especially with the Brembo package. More aftermarket, and true, you are support America! It's a rare opportunity.

Thanks guys its pretty much a done deal, Going with the 5.0,,, just waiting on some incentives and hopefully a 750 coupon. Quick question if I order one is it true that incentives have to be around and the coupon has to be valid at time of delivery not at the time of the order?

It's possible if you order like today. Their current incentive are only good till 10/4/2010. So, if you're lucky, order today and in 8-weeks(a few days before 10/4) you'll take delivery of car & get to use the $750-coupon.

Your on a mustang forum asking whether you should get a foreign car or an American muscle car. I think you should already know the majority of the answers will be Mustang. I've had the experience of owning both types, I've owned 2 mustangs, 3 camaros, a 350Z and a G35s. The 350Z is a race inspired car, pure and simple the G is a little more subtle with a touch of luxury. If you think the mustang rattles just wait until you get into these cars, they are just as bad, of course the camaro is the worst when if comes to road noise. I wont lie, the Nissan motor thats put into these cars is almost unbreakable and the engine will indeed last forever.
But after owning a Mustang even with all the things that could be better, it is by far the car I have been happiest with. It is by far the finest example of American muscle, plus by purchasing an American auto you would be helping out this troubled economy of ours.
Get the mustang, I think you know what your expecting and you know what your getting yourself into.
