2011 V6 Test Drive ... AWESOME!

I understand ur point, but the increase in hp and the modifications made to the 2011 v-6 are modest at best. Yes its a step up for the v-6 but in my opinion, those new upgrades hardly qualify it to be a muscle car... in the true sense of what a muscle car was and is! Once again, the dual over head cams, dual exhaust and 3:31 gears and so on are a big improvement!!! But at the end of the day its v-6. They will never sound or preform like the modular V-8's, real muscle! They (Ford) made that commercial and hype the new v-6 like it was some tire shreading, power planting monster... ok I understand the need to sell the public on it but really, its over hype! If thats the case, can't wait to see how the advertise the 5.0!

Should read all GT and lx pre 2004 including pre 2003 SVT Cobra.

As for it not being a true muscle car it could be argued that dual overhead or single overhead cams disqualify. If you're a purist only a pushrod V8 should be considered a "real" musclecar engine, right?

Its obvious theres some bias over 6 cylinders versus an 8, but thats ok some guys like fat chicks rather than slim ones or vicaversa. 90 horses is a serious jump. I vote at 305 hp is muscle.

Lots of GOOD discussion here.

As to whether it's a Muscle Car or not, well *most* people would classify my '04 GT and my '91 LX 5.0 Coupe as Muscle Cars. And the '11 V6 sounded better (to me) than the '04 GT and out performed (in From-the-Factory Setup) both of them NOTICABLY in my opinion. It is a SUPERIOR car in Ride, Handling, Safety, Technology, Power and Performance ... with out being a streched out high rev-ing car to get there.

This V6 (in the stick) did not even have to try hard. I wasn't having to wring it out to get the results I did. Having Driven a 2009 Civic SI and my old V8 Mustangs, this V6 is NOTHING like the Civic Si (which is still a great car for those who like to live high in the revs) and VERY MUCH like my two previous V8's ... oh, except it was BETTER.

That's why I call it a Muscle Car.

Now if I think the V6 is a Muscle Car, what do i think the new 5.0 is?

... Quite Simply the BEST & CHEAPEST Super Muscle Car ever made !
(With the Camaro SS a very close second)

And people I don't lightly say the new V6 BEATS my old LX 5.0 Coupe ... I LOVED THAT CAR ... and still do, even though it was stolen from me in '95 never to be seen or heard from again. So it was hard for me to admit that another Mustang was finally better than the Car Love of my life. But to me it was, plain and simple.

Well if ur a v-6 owner then I understand, going from 210hp at the crank to 305 at the crank is a step up and i get the excitement! But if u really want excitement, test drive the new 400+ hp 5.0 V-8 or any modular V-8 as far as that goes then go back to the v-6. Then if ur still convinced that the new v-6 is a muscle car let me know!!

are you really so concerned with other people's opinions and absolutely snowed by the americanized idea of :i've gotta have the best cause good enough ain't good enough" that you can't see how great the new V6 is?

its a fuggin 30mpg 13 second 6speed LSD equipped car that costs 21K.

dude, if you don't see the value in that you're on the wrong dang forum. if you want the best car on the planet you better trade in your boat anchor equipped pony car ASAP.

the fact of the matter is that its the best value for up to the GT price range and some of us dont want to spend 500+ bones a month on a car payment.

Its not about good enough not being good enough!!!!!!!! its about a v-6 being classified as a muscle car! Thats my debate with this topic, nothing more... nothing less!!!! But if u have some short comings of sorts about my views then thats another debate, I only state that in my opion the v-6 is an over hyped mustang made out to be more than what it is! I dont care about gas mileage or cost, none of that has anything to do with the discussion of whether the v-6 is a muscle car!! An further more, I dont need to do anything with my car! dont make a simple discussion personal because u cant win that battle!!!

lets look at the facts. this new V6 mustang is faster than every production GT up to the current chassis and is just about as fast as the outgoing modular 4.6 equipped car. dude, your problem is literally with the number of cylinders not the power output and that's honestly nothing short of laughable.

i read your posts and the underlying theme is "the V6 is good but not cool because only V8's are cool" which is just kind of dumb. its the internet, i'm illequipped to take things personally especially when its having to do with pure opinion especially when its based on such horrible logic.

22K for a 300hp 6spd LSD equipped 30mpg car that looks fuggin HOT means guys that aren't interested in pissing contests (or just dont have that much extra play money) are totally happy with the new mustang.

I never said i had the baddest or wanted to have the baddest and fastest mustang! Because no matter how fast and bad ur car is theres always someone better!!!! This debated is not about having or not having money!!!!! Simply whether or not the v-6 is a muscle car! Can i say it any clearer??????? Im not concerned with anyone's finacial status, nor do i hate v-6 mustangs or their owners! I was under the impression we where talking about a car and not who can afford what!!! and further more "dude" whats laughable is that cylinders due equal more horsepower!

Look at this way by the time you finish saving the price should have come down for you. X2 yeah GN's were the fastest things in the 80's, also do you remember that other mustang, the 86 SVO was faster than the 86 gt. I would say if its made by and it goes fast its a muscle car! 305hp, I do think thats more power than your stock 05-09 gt had... OH and they are running mid-high 13s in the 1/4, I would say thats some muscle.:Zip2:

you're right about the debt thing too. being a college graduate working to pay off his student loans can be kinda rough but i guess i'm a weirdo in that my satisfaction comes from knowing stuff and not buying things i dont need with money i dont have to impress people i dont like.

Yes its a great improvement for the v-6 mustang, no doubt! No arguement there! Its faster and better than previous models and comparable to the 05-09 gts. But as the v-6 models improve so do the V-8! But i still think its over rated and hyped way too much!

YOU AGAIN! The fact of the matter is Im not trying to sell anything! But u wont leave well enough alone, so I'll continue Mr. "if I test drive the new v-6 it"ll rule my world". If thats the case then its truly a small world after all! I really could care less what cars u have driven, where u a valet parker? Anyway, i spend money on my car beacuse its PAID FOR! So i can afford to spend as much money on it as i want, not to impress anyone, but to make it the best car i can make it!!! As any mustang owner does who puts money into their stang! So if that bothers u then welcome to the real world of the haves and have nots, dude! So please feel free to leave this alone as once again, i havent said all there is to say but ive said enough!
