I am sure its possible but I highly doubt it would be worth the cost.

I hope he's including wheels, spindles, etc with that swap too....as the '94-up cars are 5-lug in comparison to the Fox body. The S197's are different again still. In short....I don't think it's possible.

Anything is possible if you've got fab skills. I want to say I remember seeing a guy put brakes off a Subaru on his Fox. If you don't have those talents though- don't expect it to be a bolt on deal.

On a somewhat related note, your buddy shouldn't be doing a brake upgrade. He should be doing a Coyote upgrade.

Considering that 3.7L V6 powered econobox would make our anemic 225hp 5.0L Fox bodies look silly all the way across the board, I think it's probably us that need the Coyote upgrade.

FWIW...I don't know why this guy would want to do a brake upgrade. The lower weight of the V6 car's and great factory packcage already make this car a supurb stopper at just over 100ft from 60mph. They do after all have the same great brake and rotor package that the '10 GT did.

No....but as you may have noticed...we are in a Fox forum, populated by Fox owners. Just trying to keep things in perspective here.

Personally...I think the '11-up base Mustang is bad ass. 305hp....30mpg.....nimble as a cat. If we didn't have such harsh winters here, I'd probably own one right now as my daily. They're a great car.

Keeping things in perspective or just taking the opportunity to break my balls?

Man, I just think it's a lot of money to piss away only to NOT have the Coyote, one of Ford's best V8s EVAR. Seriously though. If you're going to take out a car loan and make that plunge, why not have all that delicious 412 horsepower of automotive orgasm? Maybe it's just me, but that's a no brainer.

Dude, you're reading into it too much. Your balls are the last things on my mind. What I meant by keeping it relative, is that as much as one would like to discount and fluff off the V6 Mustang as being a "low end", second place option, it's still better than any of our cars by leaps and bounds.

Of course we'd all like to own the GT, but that's not to say buying the V6 is a waste of money. The whole car quite frankly is a cut way above any of its competition and the base V6 has actually received higher praise than the big brother GT in automotive circles. As far as buying one....sure, it would be a no brainer buying the GT if the two cars were closer in price...but there's literally almost $10,000 difference between the two cars with similar options after all is said and done. That's a big chunk IMO. So no...I don't think taking out a loan for 30K vs 40K is silly at all.

Don't pass judgment on it till you actually drive one. I totally agree that the Coyote is one of Fords best V8's ever...but then the "Cyclone" Duratech 3.7 TiVCT is built using the same technology as the Coyote, which makes it one of the best V6's Ford has ever built as well. I had the opportunity to look one over and try one out just last week and it's a really, really nice car. The new V6 is extray snotty and silky smooth. Not at all like the old 4.0L truck engine it replaces. It's damn near "exotic" the way it's built. The car itself makes our Fox's feel like the econobox, not the other way around and anyone who states otherwise is delusional, is blinded by their V8 loyalty, or is a strait up liar. The ’11-up Mustang in any form is a sweet ride....PERIOD!

Say what you want but I think it would be great project to try. And if it works, you know you'd be asked to do a write up!

Brian, I wasn't going to argue Foxes with you, but to say the 2012 V6 is "better" than a 5.0L Fox is like saying a '92 V6 Fox is a better car than a '68 GT. Advances in technology aside, it will always be the less desirable model amongst enthusiasts. In 10 years they will be all but forgotten about and the only people left driving them will be teenage girls.

Only on StangNet do I encounter so much in the defense of V-sixes, front wheel drive, and automatic transmissions.

By the way, no offense to the OP's friend, this is all just my opinion, and you know how much that is worth.

Wasn't speaking from a desire standpoint....but I think you knew that the whole time and are just trying to be difficult as usual? Of course since there are 3-times as many base Mustangs made than GT's, the base cars are going to be cast aside years down the road. That still doesn't change the fact that from a pure speculative standpoint when pitting the two cars head to head, the only thing that saves our beloved 5.0L Fox is a throaty V8 exhaust note and it's previously ultra popular status.....cause if we're comparing the two cars just on merit alone, the Fox body loses every single time.

]Only in this forum do people need to walk on egg shells when making critical remarks about a Fox body. I pity the fool who chooses to step out of the 80's for a moment.

I'm sure you can put the 2011+ v6 brakes on a fox, it will probably require 94+ spindles then the kit to mount the brembo's from a gt500, at that point you will be so deep in the project, might as well just do gt500 brakes.
