Considering leasing a 2013 GT Premium. I've already spoken to a dealer and gotten terms I'm happy with, the only issue is there doesn't seem to be a car out there configured how I'd like.

If I order, what are the odds the lease terms would change over the next 6-8 weeks?

Well, it depends on dealer and what kind of quality personnel they have. If you put down money and you order your car that is a contract, the terms should NOT go up, however they may not tell you if the terms change in your favor so you have to be on top of things.

Spoke to two dealers here in town (Houston). Both said they could give me a quote now, but could not guarantee the terms 6-8 weeks out.

No they can't unless you put down a deposit and fill out the forms.

Per the first dealer I visited, it's a pretty recent development.

I would never lease a car. That is the single most expensive possible way to acquire it.

But if you insist on doing it, unless the price is agreed upon in writing, it can change. I can't imagine it could change a lot in just 6-8 weeks, but it could change some.

You may want to make sure 6-8 weeks is an accurate time-line as well. Mine took 18 weeks.

That doesn't mean a private leasing company isn't doing it.

Especially now when interest rates are nothing more than an after-thought.

It all depends on your situation. If you plan on keeping it forever and modding it, then leasing isn't the way to go. If you plan on having a new car every 3 - 5 years, it might be an option. Payments are a lot lower and you always have the option to buy later. That's definitely more expensive.
I personally prefer to buy my cars but leasing isn't that bad of a deal.

Unless the leasing company in incompetent, a lease will always be more expensive. The lease will always cost you more than the car will depreciate, because the leasing company is for profit, not charity.

I understand the lease may have a lower payment, but that doesn't make it cheaper. A lot of what you pay on a loan when you buy goes toward equity. At the end of the payments, you own it. When you lease, the money goes to nothing but depreciation plus the leasing company profit. At the end, you've spent a lot of money in total, and the car is gone. It may be less per month initially, but you never stop paying it.

You will always have a payment. And it will be lower, not "may be" lower. It will be hundreds of dollars lower. In some cases it will be half as much a payment as you would be paying to buy the car. And unless you decide to buy the car, which would be insane and defeat the purpose of leasing, you will have a new car every 3 years. Yes you won't own anything but for some people that may be a viable option. Like I said, it isn't for me.
