umm i doubt ur 89 had 300lbs of tq stock not sure what torque numbers are for your car but for my cobra which is rated higher then your car torque was rated at 285lbs(i think), so im sure u got bout the same or a bit less and yes thats what it has 215hp, it feels like more because the 5.0 is a bit torquey and has some low end grunt.

older foxes (excluding 93) were rated 225 hp/300 tq. In 93 ford changed the way the power was rated. They put out about the same. 93 Cobra was rated less than our Cobras too from what I remember. 2 posts with the name 215what? Me thinks I smell rice.

actually the 1994-5 gt does have 285 lbs of torque stock at the flywheel and 215 hp...and actually if you think about it that is pretty darn good stock for a 10 year old car...they do 0-60 in under 7 seconds which is faster than 70-75 percent of stock vehicles made even today...so comeon give ford a break man...

Regardless that they were rated at 215 they respond very well to mods, maybe even more so then some of todays new cars. Also have to remember that these are HP/TQ #'s from 10-11 yrs ago. Back then 215/285 was the top of the food chain. But even now that dosent matter, comeon who actually still has a stock 5.0 anymore

I dynoed at 205RWHP/264RWTQ with over 160K miles on the car and heavy 315's out back. I've seen other cars with similar mods dyno around 220/280.

If you think that's bad, try getting a 92 camaro with a 350 ci and pulls only 203 hp. Now that's bad.

Yeah, my 95% stock 130K mile 95 GT(at the time) easily beat a stock 40K mile 89 IROC 350 Camaro.

you can still find stock 5.0's in decent condition, there rare and usually cost a little more than a lightly modded one though

I got mine last year with 189,000 miles, it was owned by an older woman since it rolled off the assembly line. when I got it it still had the factory air silencer. I saved it becouse I probobly have the last one in existance

I have yet to find someone with a similar story to mine

Well nutcase, when I bought my car, it was completely stock. Air silencer and all. It had nothing, absolutely nothing modded on it. I got it for $4800 with 122,000 miles. It took me about 6 months to find a 94-95 Vert 5.0 to my liking. Though rare, they're still out there.

Same here. I bought the car off and older lady that bought it new and it had 79k miles. When I bought it, she handed me a folder with all kinds of documents including a folder with detailed entries of everything ever done to the car. (dates of oil changes and mileage, recall services, routine maintinence, etc... )
