I have a 91 GT with 9" wide cobra R's all around.. what tire will be a better fit for the rim/car? what tire will cause less rubbing?

i have 245/45/17's now.

From by personal experience with 17x9 Cobra R's, 255/40R17 is a much better fit.

thc420 is you car lowered? My 88 runs 17x9 cobras with 245/45/17 and they dont rub at all but my 88 isnt lowered I like the look of the 255 on the 17x9 but i thought it would be to much for the front the rear i think you can get away with a 275/40/17 easy

I'm not sure on the rubbing issues...but I had 9in. cobra R's on my 2000 GT and the 255/45/17's I had fit flush with the wheel. The next owner of my car put 245/45/17's on it and it looks "wimpy" and doesn't fit right

245/45/17 = 9.68 Wide x 4.34 Sidewall x 25.68 Height.

255/40/17 = 10.03 Wide x 4.01 Sidewall x 25.02 Height.
