Everything will be cool, even with the stock regulator.
Unless you absolutly must have a afpr for bragging rights, that money could be saved.

ive understood from previous posts that adjusting the fuel pressure may or may not give me little more kick. is this right?

WHy a 255? with a stocker your wasting money, and the adjustable FPR? same, it's a waste, unless you take it and get it dyno tuned. If you need a new fuel pump then why not i guess, there isnt a lot of difference in price last time i checked, but for the fpr, like i said, with out a dyno, it's a waste.
IMO

A 255 would be great if you plan on a lot more power in the future ( h/c/i, nitrous, boost, etc.). Sure, it's a bit big for a stock motor, but that's why there's a RETURN fuel line. What the engine doesn't use is sent back to the tank. A bigger fuel pump and adjustable regulator are the building blocks of future mods, so if that's what you have planned, you're on the right track.
