275 wide tires on stock 8" bullit rims.

My buudy has them on his 00 GT, they're not bullit rims, but they're 8" wide stockers. They fit ok, but they don't look good, they have WAY to much bulge on them. I don't think it's very good for tire wear either.

I have kumho supra 712's all around on bullit rims (275-40-17). I had 275/40-17's on my stock bullitt wheels. They fit fine, not too much sidewall bulge. They also looked much better than the stock tires.

This is the best pic I can find of the 275 Nitto's on the rear of my car. There is a little buldge but it looks good. My friend who did the mounting for me said it was a pain to get mounted. It's a tight fit.

Particularly the pics from the front are tell tale for the width of the tire.

no problems running them out back. i wouldn't put them on an 8" rim up front.

The look is a personal thing, but a little bulge looks better than set-ups that look like your using the wheel edge for a rubber protector.

275's will cause a wandering problem on sucky roads......I think pinching them onto a 8 inch rim improves that a good deal. On my 9 inch wheels I run about 38 -40 psi to minimize it.

We have the Kuhmo 712's at 275/40 all around on our Project Bullitt. It's a little shaky at high speeds but other than that fine. I'd be concerned about high speed/force cornering with the package. Stick to 245's or 255's unless you want looks over performance.

Your right, it will cause a lot of wandering on crappy roads, but a wider tire on a narrow rim will actually make it worse, not better. You get a lot of sidewall back and forth flex with that bulge in either direction and it makes the wheel hunt all over the place. It's a narrow tire on a wide rime that tightens things up. Say 245's on a 9-wheel....but that also looks a little silly in its own right.

I’d personally go with the 275’s out back and stick with the 245’s up front.

I run Falken ZE 512s in 275/40/17 up front on 8" wheels with with no problems whatsoever. My car doesn't wander or follow the 'grooves' any more than my 245s did. I experience less push in corners. Maybe more hydroplaning in puddles, haven't really noticed this season.

Alot of the 'bulge' thing depends on the tire brand you use.

Aren't Cobra wheels 17x9?

i know you are but what am i?!?! the person my good friend is refering to is me i personally think they look good on mine. they are the 275/40/17 kuhmo ecsta supras. i have no rubbing issues up front and slight bulge on all four wheels. as far as tire wear goes, they wear just fine ive had them on for ~15K miles and im ready to finally rotate them now. the rears show wear and have maybe 30-35% tread left after 3 track visits and hard driving on the street (fishtails etc), and the fronts have ~50% tread left. i have a bunch of pics in my sig

You don't miss anything do ya?......I am running the Ford Racing chrome version, and I haven't seen them in 8 inch, however replica companies may make a counterfeit 8 inch. Looking at the sidewall of the tire, I would guess they were 9 inch though. Nice stance on the car, I'll say that.

Slowly but surely! The AED blower thread I started on tccoa the other day has convinced me to wait for the GEN V kit, so I think I’ll wait until Feb or March to buy it. Besides, with the Christmas rush right now, I don’t want to take the chance of things getting held up or lost at the border. I can’t drive the thing until April anyway, so I’ll be patient. I’ve got most of the other things sitting in my room at home right now, but I kinda want to wait until it’s all here before I start.

Falken 275/40 17's on the back, stuck with the 245's on the front. They look great, didn't affect the handling, and don't look like you've tried to shove a quart into a pint pot.
