I have a 289 punched out to a 302 and i am running the stock cast iron intake manifold with the spacer plate and stove pipe choke carburetor. I really HATE the carburetor and want to know what my 2bbl replacement options are other than factory. I really want something with electric choke. What is available? I really need a new carb setup to get me going again any help is greatly apprecated! Thanks!:flag:

Are you running an Autolite 2100? If you are, there really are no better 2bbl carbs for the 289 motors than that. When they are functioning properly, they run better and are more reliable than any 2bbl Holley. If yours is really tired and in need of a rebuild, send it off to Pony Carburetors. They specialize in Autolite carburetors, and do magic on these carbs to make them look and run better than new.

Two carb options other than the Autolite 2100 (which I find are harder to deal with than a Holley) Holley 350 cfm or 500 cfm 2300 carbs. Either are available with electric chokes. Last 2100 I dealt with had issues with hot starts. Bolted a used 500 cfm Holley 2 bbl in it's place and problem solved.

I really appreciate your advise. My problem is the stove pipe choke is causing a vacuum leak causing me to overheat. Cold starts and hard starts are both hard to get her running but I am thinking I want to get one of the Holleys. Will I need to run an adapter plate for them? Also where is the best/cheapest place to buy them on the net? Thanks again!
