Dropping a 347 roller motor into a 68 Mustang. I am guessing I wont be able to use the 5.0 oil pan, so I am planning on using a 68 style pan. Is there a difference in oil pumps between a 289 and a 5.0? Is it just a different pickup? Is there a special setup I need to use?

When I did that swap a few years ago, I just put the early pickup on the later pump and installed the early pan. Mine was an '86 5.0 into a '66.

Same pump for all, just different pickup tubes and pans. The HD pump drive for the TFI distributors are different too, but this is the turned down portion at the top end being longer for the longer distributor shafts.

yep, the pumps the same. the driveshaft might be different depending on which distributor you are using though.

You did use a "performance" oil pump drive shaft, didn't you? Like an ARP, or something better than the stock #2 pencil sized thing......
