Anyone drive one as a daily driver? What's your overall experience with it? Long story short, my brother is looking to get a new car and told me he would sell me his 95 explorer for $500. I currently drive an Audi A4 and love it but I was looking to downgrade (big downgrade in this case) to put more money in my savings as i'm getting married next year and am looking to buy a house. Any info on the truck will be helpful.

Had a 96 and have an 02 sohc. Both were very good vehicles, and went well over 150 k miles with nothing more than minor items.

i have a 01 sport 2wd, passenger side spark plugs are a pain to replace, other than that 150k and running strong, intake gasket gave out about 20k miles ago, wont get anywhere in the snow.

going from an A4 to an Exploder? That's like going from Megan Fox to Lindsay Lohan!

Yeah I know it's a huge downgrade but like I said, i'd be doing it to put more money back in my savings to put towards a house.

Those older explorers are OHV i think. I have no experience with that motor only the OHC engine. I think you can't go wrong for the price even if it only last a year you still win IMO

Tough engines, but about as gutless as it gets. 4-door SUV+ 160hp 4.0L OHV =

Those old 2nd Gen Exploeres are kind of a **** box by todays standards, but it you can get it for $500 and you don't have to put much of anything into it, you'll make out pretty well.
