I know everybody is probly gonna say 4.10's but I figured i would ask anyways. I was talking about somebody bout the 4.10s he said stick with the 3.73 it will keep your top speed up. I didn't want the 4.10 cause I would have to buy a new set of tires. Would I need to buy new tires anyways if I went with the 3.73. If so I will probly be going with the 4.10s

Ugh....go with at least 4.10's, if not the 4.30's. The difference between the two is only 5%. People who talk about lossing "top end" don't have a clue. The aerodynamics of the car will come into play long before the steeper gears will.

Plus, how many times (if at all) will you be needing to go 150+mph

My vote is for 4.30's.

I have 4.10s. First gear is extremely useable, but then again I am running 295/35 tires on 18x10.5's, so I hook up. Sometimes I hook up, sometimes I spin the tires, but first gear becoming "unusable" is a myth.

4.10's are a blast and I agree should be the minimal gear for a n/a 4.6L snake. I am at 2550rpm @70mph on the highway.

4.10s is a nice compromise for acceleration and highway driving.

It's been covered many many many times...4.10's for a street driven car that rarely sees the track 4.30's or even 4.56's for a track car...You will be disappointed with 3.73's...

Get 4.56's and rip them out the hole.

I love my 4.56, i used to have 4.10 and they were alright, but the difference is noticable.

3.73s = woman

4.10s = optimal for the street

4.30s = too much gear for the street, good for lots of track

4.56s+ = Strictly track

Just IMO of course

If you guys are serious about still having a 1st gear with 4.10's, then I'm definitely going with them. That was my ONLY concern--1st gear traction, though I am about to upgrade to a 285 and 10" rear setup.

Man, this topic is getting old on all of the Mustang boards. There should be a sticky for this topic since its one of the most popular modifications done to a Mustang. With 4.30s on my Cobra first gear is not useless on the street and they are not just a track gear. They are good on the interstate and a hell of a lot of fun on the street going through the gears. Please don't even think about getting 3.73's for your car, 4.10s minimum.
