I have 4.10s in my 96 GT 5-speed and honestly I get almost no wheel spin when I punch it at around 20 in 1st. It does rev faster making it pull harder. Before the gear I could chirp 2nd. After the gear I can REALLY get 2nd and can chirp 3rd every time now. They won't hamper your traction from a roll really.

What if you were going to add a SC? Like a KB or something that will really boost HP? Or even do a swap to the Ford Racing 5.0 modular and stay NA?

I'm wondering why my speedo/tach says 76mph at 2,000 RPM.

Is my stuff off? It has read the same since the day I picked it up with 18 miles on the car.

you will be in the 13's if you stop shifting to 4th gear.
also about turning 3000rpms most old muscle cars were pushing alot more than 3000rpms @ 85 (and that was with push rods & no synthetic oil).

here is what i gather about gears

3.73's = no gain to -.1 in 1/4ET
4.10's = -.2 to -.5
4.30's = -.3 to -.6

i dont follow the 3.90's..........but that may be a viable option.
the difference is you will have to make a shift to 4th gear.
all those gears will last you the full 1/4 N/A............so common sense tells you the steeper you go more time you give the gear to make up for the extra shift in the 1/4.

So what do you think my car could run the 1/4 in? I'm hoping to hit a high 13 with the mods in my sig and also a short throw, DR's, pulleys, and a PI intake.

as far as drag racin goes, ,you don't want to leave any HP unused at the end of the track if you are trapping 100mph you want to be close to your peak hp has you can as you are going throught the traps in 4th gear.

currently my car goes about 97mph, with a 4.10 and my 255/50/16 DR's i will cross at 5133rpm
a 3.73 it's 4670 which is below my peak at 4800, i'd be leaving hp on the table in 4th.

my plan is to make mid 12's at 108-110, with a pi motor, which is 5821 a bit past peak but where the engine is still making power.
a 3.73 on the other hand is turning the motor at 5296rpm which on a ohc motor making that amount of power is going to make it around 5500, 200rpm shy of your mark.
