I have Ford putting in my gears (even though he's not supposed to) at 8 AM tomorrow. The guy is just gonna say I chipped the ring and pinion so he's gonna replace them with what I bring. The mechanic also said it would only take 3 or so hours and be under $300 for it all.

They thought I meant transmission gears the first time and said 6+ hours and $390.

Good thing I talked to the mechanic himself. He had me bring the kit by so he could see if I had everything. He said I would probably only need a pinion bearing and one or two other pieces. No big deal.

Good deal! You'll really like the 3.73's. I LOVE mine.

I like em. I should have gone with 4.10's but I haven't 100% ruled out a supercharger yet :)

3.73's add a nice kick in the butt. They allowed me to fair better against an 01 Cobra N/A.

Why do you think you should have gone with 4.10s? What don't you like about the 3.73s? What kind of daily driving do you do with your car also...

I would think that you could feel more out of 4.10's than the 3.73's.

My daily driving will probably consist of a 1+ hour commute to Atlanta to work every day.

I think I was expecting more from the gears that only POWER can provide :)

Yea your not going to feel any more power LOL (was hoping/expecting the same as you) but man it does pull in 1st hard. I love mine, and DONT wish I went 4.10s. See when your A. taching 2600RPMS at 75MPH with 4.10s you would have wished you went 3.73s (2200 or so) B. when your racing someone from a 60-65MPH roll on the highway and just as you start to pull, BAM your at 100MPH and have to hit 5th, and say bye bye to the car your racing...you would have wished you went 3.73s and ran her up to 115+ if need be. C. you add a few more boltons and when you hit the race track you find that you have to hit 5th gear RIGHT before the end of the 1/4 because your now trapping over 100. S/C is the same way, imagine hitting 5th at about the 1000ft mark. BTW I am getting S/Cd or TTd after the car is payed off.

I paid $376 total :)

$275 for labor and the rest for pinion bearing, cone (?) and 3qts of $19/qt fluid.

It's alright though. 1st gear pulls like a mother and 2nd pulls just about as great. Cruising home at 60 MPH and 3k RPM in 4th is alright and I use 5th also because 2k RPM in the mountains isn't TOO bad.

I was thinking about S/C'ing so it's not so bad. Besides, my "races" usually don't go over 80 much less 100. I don't need THAT big of a ticket.
