Most dealers only order on a certain day of the week. I ordered mine last Friday and I called on Saturday to make sure the DORA was there for me to pick up. The sales manager informed me that it wouldn't be actually sent in until Thursday (his regular order day). I complained and he said he would get it in A.S.A.P. (yea right). He said I was price protected from the price increase because I had a signed order form. He has until the end of the week and then I either want my DORA or my deposit back. I can take my business elsewhere to someone who appreciates it.

Hey guys maybe this will help, I picked all my options for my order and signed the form on 10/22 (Friday) and the order was entered into the system on 10/26 (Tues) it was explianed that even though the order is entered into the system it only goes to a holding position in the system. Then on Thursday and Friday the plant accepts the orders and depending on what options you picked they place it into the production schedule. Once that is done your dealer should have the info and it should show retro back to the day they submited the order.
The sheet they gave me confirming my options picked has the price in retail and dealer inv. cost (26620 retail, 24621 dlr)
it also shows the date of order being 10/26. So I feel confident in the info I gave you. But since the hole IUP issue with "my color" shortage I went from a production date of 12/6 to temp delay, so as hard as it is try to relax... Good luck

I think that the only day an order gets TRULY submitted is Thursdays. Don't jump the gun. I think that he is telling the truth. They submit orders but they are not accepted into the system (DORA) until Thursday. Can someone confirm or refute this?

Don't feel bad at all. As others have said, dealers often only order at a specific interval. With Ford it seems to be every Thursday. That isn't really that long at all. I went to order a 350z last March and found out that Nissan only takes orders once a month, and then only if the dealer has the allotment to order. It turned out that the dealer, even though they took my deposit, couldn't get the car ordered until July. It takes about 3 months to get the car after the order is accepted by the factory. I was looking at a September/November delivery date for a car I ordered in March. Since then I have had a change of heart and am now torn between the Mustang and the 350z. Now it is just a matter of waiting until the first of the year so I don't have to pay an extra years worth of taxes on it.

Yea don't get to upset I ordered and paid a deposit over amonth ago and to this day all I know is it's scheduled. So you when they fix this hole IUP delay you will probably get yours a couple of days after mine. Hell you might get yours before mine the way it's going.

I placed my order on the 5th of November. I was hoing to have the car by Christmas but that looks like a pipe dream. What are other people experiencing as far as wait times for their VIN #s and for the car to actually show up?

The dealer can place the order any day of the week. Ford pulls orders overnight on Thursdays. The DORA will come the morning after the order is entered in the computer. It makes most sense to order it immediately so that it doesn't get forgotten and skip a whole week, but in reality monday is the same as thursday.
