just rolled over 4,000 miles......is their a recommended service around this time......i changed the oil at 1500, after the motor was broken in and now im at 4,000 miles.....(i know i need another oil and filter change), but do i really need to take it into ford????? i can do it myself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i just got something in the mail saying its time for the 3 month service this is what it entails.

check and fill window washer fluid,
brake fluid
tranny fluid
coolant
power steering fluid
check transfer case
and a oil and filter change.

my question is is it necessary i take it to ford? have any of you done this service?.....if not when did you decide and what are the intervals of service?

thanks guys!!!!!!!

The first service is just an oil and filter change and a tire rotation. You can look at your own fluid levels. 15K is the first service where you do more than an LOF and rotate.

Keep your receipts and a log book if you do it yourself.
Car companies like to hold this against you if any major warrenty issues come up later.

I usually perfer to do things like that myself as well, but I usually take it in at all the recommended mileage just so I can keep records, and prove it is "dealer maintained" if/when I decide to sell it in the future.

I looked in the manual for my 07 the other night and thought the first service wasn't due until 5000 miles. Did I miss something?
I plan on having the dealer do the first oil change at 3k (only because I got a gift certificate for it w/purchase of the car).

5000 is when ford recommends changing the oil, but I just changed mine at 2,000 (break and I plan on doing it every 3,000 with royal purple.

yardspecial, that kit is for when you dont want to change the oil to get the sample. it sucks the oil through the dipstick, so you can send in your sample. you can get the same sample when you change the oil, without spending the $25 on that tool.

but i do agree, testing your oil is a good idea!

My 2006 GT was made in Nov. 2005 and had 63 miles on it when I bought it Labor Day weekend during the 0% sale. I really doubt that the dealer changed the oil during the last 10 months. I changed it after 1500 miles and probably should have done the change when I got it home. I just don't trust anyone with my car. I left a previous car for warranty service and got a door ding with the repair. Do it yourself is the way to go. With some ramps and a good pan it takes less than 30 minutes and YOU KNOW IT WAS DONE RIGHT!

Keep the receipts and any Zone Office will set the dealer straight if they have a warranty coverage issue.
