My car ( 83 5 liter) has this 3 post solenoid with, from what I have researched, the 79-86, bracket......
All I can find is a 4 post with this style bracket..
Is a 4 post my only option or will a newer 3 point solenoid with the newer bracket fit my car?

The 4th post (little) can be ignored IIRC. Put a vacuum cap over the terminal if you want to be OCD and run it. Wells and Standard consolidated Ford solenoids (yes, relays) years ago and I remember seeing instructions in the boxes.
