I got new oxygen sensors from Autozone (don't remember the brand, it wasn't the factory ford ones) about 3 months ago and they have 3 wires coming from them. Two white and one black. I just assumed they were the right ones, since the computer said so, and I didn't have any other sensors to compare it to. When I bought the car, it had both it's sensors cut so I bought those to replace them. I have a check engine code for oxygen sensors not working. Now I don't know if its the harness or the sensors.

On another post, people told me foxes were supposed to have two wires, but do any of you guys have 3 wire oxygen sensors that work?

Hmm... so did ford make both 3 wire and 2 wire 02 senors for fox bodies? Or did some aftermarket company design a 3 wire sensor that worked? I'm very curious about this...

One of the wires is to heat the o2 sensor for proper operation alot quicker. One of them is to measure o2 gasses. One of them is to ground the unit.

The sensors that have two wires are not heated. If you make sure sensor is connected to the computer ground and o2 leads then it will communicate properly.

I am sure someone will chime in with more details but that is what I know. Hope it helps.

What computer did you use in the 4 cylinder swap?

The computer is from a 93 GT. I'm at the point where I might just start a replacement frenzy. My biggest suspicion is the 02 sensor harness, but I keep seeing people getting ripped on ebay. They sell for about $40 there. I may have to go to a junkyard, but mustangs are rare in junkyards around here.
