302 5.0L Heads. need help. which is cylinder 1

well i took the heads off my 302, and forgot to mark which valves were ontop of piston cylinder one. i got all the valves labled to which piston they belong.. jsut dont know which head goes on which side of the motor.


someone help me out.. its a roller motor.. maybe 85/86

#1 is passenger side, front.

i hope that's what you're asking

no, I think he means he doesn't remember which head is which now that they are off the car. Do you have a digital camera? If so take a pic and post it on here and we'll tell ya which head is which. Somone might know of what markings are on which head or something, wish I could help more.

Its pretty easy - look for bolt hole reducers in the front (face) of the head (for your accesory bolts) there should be one in each head. When you find those, you know that side must be facing toward the radiator - wahlah - you have left right determined.

and if they are the stock heads you will have the holes in the thermactor(?) holes in the back side.

i accidentally put mine on backwards but it doesn't matter because they work both ways.

If your heads are from as you say an 85-86 motor, i would go ahead and buy some E7 heads from 87-93 mustangs. They are much better, you'd be wasting your time and money with E6 (85-86) heads.

i have a couple of sets of e7's make an offer but shipping would have to be added, i don't know what kind of box would hold 2 heads inside
