The best dizzy, is one, that has been custom curved for your engine, whether it be one of the high-tech MSD units or a custom built ancient unit like mine. The key is "custom curved".
It should have a Pertronix sparkie, and run a vac canister for best street use and less maintenance.
You state it will be driven on the street but is being setup for drag racing? Does this mean, it will see the track, occasionally? Or, you're just looking for a ride that looks and acts like a drag queen?
A 347 can be a potent street warrior when setup and tuned correctly. To get max performance, choose one way or the other. For mediocre performance, compromise.

It's a matter of choice. It's not so much about what you use, as it is how you use it. Some folks like the DuraSpark, others, may go with the popular stuff out there. As I mentioned, I'm running a 40+ year old dizzy, that has been, cleaned, re-bushed and running a Pertronix. I sent it out to a guy to have it re-curved and have the total advance "all-in" by 3000 to 3100K, I believe in the use of a dizzy vac to further tune the advance ckt.for good street manners, as well. I run a Jacobs CD box, which provides the fire power.
Again your 347 can be a potent block, but, it can be smoked by a lesser engine that has a proper tune in the carb, and dizzy. You have the cubes, now you need to do the science.
What do you know about the AFR?
What timing are you running now?
Have you considered a dyno session to baseline the engine?

The engine is still sitting on my stand. I do not have a Distributor at this time so any input on a good one to buy with part # would be helpfull. I will have this car put on a Dyno when it is finished. It is under going a complete restoration.
If you want to get rid of the advance, get the Pertronix for the 289HP dual point distributor. It's mounted on a disc that replaces the entire point plate.
since you are going to run a roller cam, my advice is to get a distributor from an 85 mustang GT 5spd car. that was a duarspark distributor with the required steel gear for the roller cam.
you can run with out the vacuum advance on the street but why? when you hit the track you can essentially lock out the vacuum advance by disconnecting the hose from the distributor and plug the line with something like a golf tee. then replace the line when you leave the track.
since you are running a 6AL, why not a MSD dissy without the vac adv. Use the one with mechanical adv, I used one before and it worked great. It has springs to adjust the rate of which the adv comes in. You can use the timing light and watch your tach to determine if all the adv is in when you want it, if not just change a spring. Once it is set, it will be set. It is pretty easy. With a 6A, blaster coil, and stock 650 holley it was very responsive.
