what are the best heads for a 5.0? i heard the M-6049-X305 gt-40 heads are bolt on 65 hp. and they have 58cc chambers wich would make it 9:4:1 compression wich is what i was looking for. has anyone tried these heads? what are they like? what is the power band?

please dont believe the performance gains advertised by parts manufacturers. they will not bolt on 65HP, sorry

I run the AFR 165s and love them, really woke the engine up

if you run the GT40 intake and 24 lbs injectors and larger TB and so forth , those heads will give you 65 at the flywheel........but not by themselves

AFR 165's in a 58cc chamber.
Better head all around.

If these are going to be used in a truck, I'd stay away from anything that has an intake valve size larger then 1.94, or an intake port larger then 180cc. What everyone has suggested so far, should work well for you. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine had a real good article in one of their issues, where they compared several 5.0 cylinder heads. (dyno tests and flow tests) They may have it on their website.

Another vote for Holley Systemax heads. They run real well.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
