what are the best heads for a 5.0? i heard the M-6049-X305 gt-40 heads are bolt on 65 hp. and they have 58cc chambers wich would make it 9:4:1 compression wich is what i was looking for. has anyone tried these heads? what are they like? what is the power band?

If you have a fairly stock 302 get the 165 heads. They will add at least 85 hp!!!! AFR rules!!!

290rwhp/340rwtq......edelbrock intake, trick flow cam, AFR 165 heads, BBK LT headers, etc etc. Approx 340-350 flywheel horsepower and 380-390 ft/lbs of torque.

Twisted Wedge's are the best head you can run on the stock pistons, which is why I bought them.

Go with a name commensurate with Hot Rods......Holley or Edelbrock, you can't lose.

Its all a matter of who you talk to. I have 351 Windsor heads, and I love them. But AFR are great heads and same with the Twisted Wedges, but AFR=$$$.

has anyone tried the brodix heads?

what kind of price difference are the trick flows to the afr 165s?

i like the afr 165s cuz i wont have to get them milled since they come with 58cc chambers.

will i have to get new headers or can i just use the ones i already have?

about 1000 vs. 1300 for the AFRs.

I agree, you can't go wrong with either. I prefer AFRs slightly despite the price difference. AFR 165s will accept stock headers.

I made 311 rwhp/ 330 rwtq with AFR165s/cobra intake/FTI cam/shorty headers. Then I had Ed Curtis Port the intake and put on long-tube headers. I'd guess it was probably making another 10 rwhp or so.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
