Any news on the 302 motor going in the new Mustangs for 2009 or 2010? Would that be a stronger motor from the 281? I was told at a Ford dealership that the Saleen style 302 is the 281 stroked..can that be done with the cylinder walls on the 281 being thin? I am wanting to go SC soon can the 281 be built up and stroked to compete with these bigger motors and last. I dont want to spend the cash and have this new motor come out and blow my doors off???LOL Just asking questions to see if anyone has heard anything.

Expect to see the new 5.0 mod motor in the 2011 Mustang. From my understanding, it will be rated at 400HP N/A

Btw it is Not the current 4.6 (281) stroked, as this new 5.0 mod motor, will be replacing the 281 4.6 altogether.

Ford's 5.0L Modular V8 is not that new. It has been around for awhile in the racing scene, however it has never been put into a production car. It is a 304 Cubic Inch( CI ) V8, not a 302 CI. It runs the exact same stroke as the 4.6L V8 but a larger bore to get the bigger displacement.

It is the aftermarket companies not Ford that are offering stroked 4.6 that are in the 298 - 302 CI range. Stroking the modular V8, in my opinion, is not the best way to increase displacement for these V8's...

mm&ff had one bored to a 302 a couple months back with a new cam i think. it ran in the high 11s

People have been expecting to see the 5.0 mod motor in the mustangs for years now. I'm not so sure they are going to even put it in the new GT's. My understanding is a TT V6 that puts out a very nice amount of power and tq.

To answer your question, yes, the current 4.6L can be stroked and done relatively well, too. If you wanted to build a block you could just stroke it, lower compression, and throw a supercharger with 18 pounds of boost and you'll blow the new motor's doors off.

First of all, the new 5.0L modular V8 motor, is not the same modular 5.0L cammer V8 found in the FR500C racing versions.

This new production version, is a 5.0L modular V8, that has direct injection. Where as the current modular 5.0L cammer V8, clearly does not.

It's already been confirmed, that Ford's upcoming production version of the 5.0L modular V8. Will be replacing the current 4.6L in 2011.

This all new production version, will also have direct injection for overall improved fuel economy.
