How hard is it to stroke a 302 to a 347? I was thinking about buying a project car, and was wondering if I could manage to stroke it over to a 347 without much trouble. I'm not too mechanically inclined, but have done the basic stuff along with replace heads, cams, and intake manifold. I want this car to hopefully make it into the 10s with a turbo kit, and was wondering, would the stroked 347 be a compatabile motor to do so with?

Turbos + 347 = broken blocks... that kind of power requires a Dart block or something similar.

N/A 347 short blocks can be purchased from FRPP (www.fordracingparts.com)and many other places. It'll cost about the same for machining the current block and buying the kit anyway.

Welcome to the boards.

so for a turbo charged application you would just build up the stock 302, or what route should I go. Buy a crate motor, or buy a good block and build up maybe?

There are tons of guys running 10s with stock blocks and turbos. Check out turbomustangs.com.

My buddy had a 302 with a T-76 on it and it ran high 10 @ 128 with a stock block.

Good machine work (reduce harmonics), a good tune and not revving the motor high into the RPMs will help keep it together.

Save the money you would spend on the stroker kit, not worth it here.
