Well i finished my 306 build up and its in and running!

But im having cooling problems... again
here is what i do...start the car without the radiator cap on, wait till it warms up and fill it unil it stops bubbling... cap it off and go for a drive.... everything if fine no problems what so ever. turn the car off, 5 min later turn it back on and the thermostat opens and the temp keeps climbing till the L in normal almost to the HOT mark.... open the Radiator and fill it till it stops bubbling cap it off and im good to go again.... it is so intermintant too, sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt

there is no white smoke out the exhaust and no crap in the oil.... not sure where its going? maybe out the over flow tank?

Fluidyne radiator, and a newer 180* t-stat....

sounds like you still have air pockets in the system.

If you still have ait in collant system you will have to drill hole on thermostat about 3mm (don't remember now how much on USA messurment because i'm frickin European ) and you will need good drill bit because thermostat is made from stront a$$ material
Drill hole like in pics

How do you burp it properly?

isnt there already a hole in the t-stat? i will check, which way does the hole go? to the top, side or down?

Put the hole on the top.

I have had pretty good luck without a hole in the t-stat by jsut filling the radiator (car off) and continuously squeezing the upper radiator hose unitl no more coolant will fit. Then I start the car with the rad cap off and top it off, put the radiator cap back on and fill the overflow tank to the max line (about 1/2 way up). then jsut check it in a couple of days.

Burping-Start the car with rad cap off and heat HIGH on the Normal setting. Wait for the stat to open. Fill rad back up. You can do this a couple times on the cold cycle. DO NOT do it when the car is hot already (safety issue).

there isnt any need to drill a hole in the thermostat. 94-302 and vib posted the 2 ways that have worked for me every time.

What??? Meaning heat high, fan low? or heat high, fan high? or heat high floor only? or heat between cool and hot with the fan on high? not sure what you mean

i think you mean all the way as hot as it will go and all on the floor....

Just make sure the heat know is on full heat. the position of the direction (defrost, floor, etc) does not matter.

Turn the heat on at it's hottest setting. The fan on it's highest setting. Instead of MAX put it on NORMAL. Start car without cap wait for the stat to open, refill and wait until all the bubbles disappear. Put cap back on.
