Hey guys I was just wondering if a 31 spline Trac-Loc differential is strong enough to handle slicks. What are track time differences between slicks and DR's, assuming the stang is bone stock? What about price differences?

I just can't decide what I want to do with my stock carrier/axles. My gears are going in soon and I think now would be a good time to upgrade, but I'm really low on cash. If I get my carrier beefed up I won't be able to mod for a while lol...which means no DR's....

I wish modding was inexpensive

31 spline axles are tough enough, especially if you go with some name brand like Moser, instead of Ford take-offs. If you want to do a pretty cheap rear end beef-up, look for an open 8.8 31 spline, toss in a mini spool, and get some nice 31-spline axles, and you will love the traction difference. I cut 1.8s right off, after I swapped in a 31 spline conversion and a mini spool, and some Sportsmans on my old 93 notch. I did a few 3k drops, and it laughed and asked for more.
