I have heard alot of good things about the J-mod and wouldn't mind trying it out for back to back comparisons........Having used 2 of the transgo shift kits before.....I would reccomend them to anyone! "ED"

To put it short, the J-mod was designed by Jerry Wroblewski. He was a Ford transmission engineer, and he specialized in the 4r70w transmission. If anyone knows what makes the 4r70w operate, it would be him.

Main two things you want to AVOID in a shift kit are the following:

1. Blocker rings
2. Manual increase of line pressure (via the line pressure solenoid)

I dropped .3 off my 1/4 mile ET with my 10.5 West Coast Racing Converter with a 2800 stall.

I would (If I were you)

1. Call up some of the major TQ Converter guys and describe what you have, what your goals are ( ex. better 60 foot times), and ask them what they recommend.

2. Ask them if they have a stall/torque dyno ? You (in the car ) cannot measure this. The values will run from 1.5 to 2.0. The torque converter IS a torque muliplier.

3. Budget for a trans cooler, as you will now need it.

4. The more converter guys you call / get quotes from, the better you will feel about making your final decision.

5. Set aside a weekend for the install; or about $ 300 for a pro install, depending on where you live.

Best of luck !
